Hi all, I use the advanced digital clear blue opk's. (Obviously pricey but I don't want to deal with "is that a line?)

Basically, my husband can only perform 3 days in a row TOPS, so it makes it tricky as I have to time things even more precisely.

What happened the past few months is we would baby dance on the days that I had a flashing smiley, (high fertility)and then when I got a solid smiley, my husband "had nothing left", and we couldnt baby dance.

The positive result means that the test detected the LH surge and that means I will ovulate between 12-36 hours AFTER seeing the positive result. That's according to the instructions anyway.

I am thinking, this month, I will wait to baby dance until I get a positive result. And then We will try that morning, and the next two mornings.

I'm just worried doing it before I Ovulate, will mean my husband will "have nothing left" by the time I actually ovulate. I know sperm can live inside my body for several days, but that way doesn't seem to be working for us.

Anyone have any insight on this???

I guess it's not exactly an OPK question, but you get the idea :)

Why don't you try every other day? That will also give him time to replenish his swimmers.

well, I guess because there have been so many months where we baby danced two days before I ovulated and then on day of actual ovulation my husband couldn't perform. So I'm actually scared to do it before because I feel like the most important day is the day of ovulation or 1 day before. So my plan is to just wait for those days so I know he'll be able to do it!! :/

I never thought this would require so much thought. I'm so stressed out.

Hello! Definitely have sex EOD, evidence shows only a slightly greater chance of conception with sex ED vs EOD. Many professionals recommend having sex EOD from the time your period ends to the start of your next period as you will be sure to hit your fertile window.

Second, I would HIGHLY recommend temping to confirm ovulation. OPKs are a very useful tool in predicting ovulation but can't confirm ovulation. Some women will prepare to release an egg and turn an OPK positive but then not release it, temping will detect this. Sometimes it can just be a random annovulory cycle or it could be monthly that you don't ovulate. If you consistently don't ovulate you can go to your doc with your charts as proof and come up with a game plan.

Does your husband have any lifestyle choices that may impact his ability to perform? Drinking a lot? Bad eating habits or poor sleep? Making some lifestyle changes may be very helpful for his performance. Also, many men find success with Maca helping increase sex drive and performance.

You may also want to try not telling him so he doesn't get anxiety about having to perform.

My fiancé and I conceived (but sadly it didn't stick) for the first time this last cycle, and in my fertile window we only ended up doing the baby dance 4 & 1 days before O, then again on 1dpo. We plan to do the same now. When I get to the week before my expected O, we'll BD every-third-night until the opk turns positive, and then depending on when we last BD'd at that point, get it in the night it turns positive, or the night after. Hoping for a repeat of this cycle, but with a stickier bean.

Thanks, ladies!

My husband only has one bad habit, and that's smoking cigarettes. For us, I really believe it's a timing thing.

Today I am CD 12 so we will try tonight, Friday and Sunday. Hopefully I will ovulate within that time frame. It's hard for me to grasp that EOD is just as good as ED. But I am going to try it, and if I get a positive before Sunday, I am hoping we can do it once more, a total of 4 times. Cross your fingers for me!
And if AF comes I will start temping for next cycle...

The reason ED is not really better than EOD is because your partner's sperm needs at least 24 hours to replenish. Sperm form and mature over 90 days, but the last little bit of that maturation happens as needed, right before release. Unless his numbers are all excellent and you BD likely clockwork at exactly the same time, you're likely to start cutting into the 24-hour replenishing period. Doing that once isn't a huge deal, but doing that several times in a row means by the time ovulation arrives and you want the biggest, best deposit, you're probably not getting it. EOD guarantees that there's a full supply of fresh, ready sperm. It also gives both of you a break from the physical activity of it, which improves his performance, and makes it a lot more fun for both of you.

That makes sense, and obviously doing it ED wasn't working for us. We BD last night, and just knowing today we will have a break already takes some pressure off.

I am CD 13 today. On most cycles, I O on CD 15...this morning I still had a negative on my OPK...

It has happened in previous months where I will get several days of negatives, and suddenly I will get a positive, with no flashing smileys (high fertility days) in between.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Thanks for all the feedback and info!
