OPK's??

So I'm on my third round of Clomid, last round I had progesterone around 8, and my dr said that meant I O'd, so he put me on the same dose this time. I didn't do OPK's cause I was feeling discouraged, but I am this round and I'm having NO luck. The line got a little darker around CD18, but def not a positive. Anyone have any advice or similar personal experience?? I've been testing around 5 PM, and making sure not to go to the bathroom after 1 PM. My last cycle was 32 days, so I'm thinking I should've O'ed by now?? I've also consulted Dr. Google, and I think my prog should've been higher than 8, but with an erratic cycle length (test was on CD23) who knows!!

your progesterone for CD23 test still seems a bit on the low side, to warrant your doc prescribing you the same dose again. On my CD23 ( i couldn't get in to do test any earlier due to work) on 100mgs my progesterone was 49.9! I would definitely be speaking with him/her and pushing to try 150mgs of clomid.
If you are ovulating correctly you should be getting a proper positive OPK. It should remain positive for one to three days on average. I believed anything over a 15 on fertility meds was deemed to be a successful ovulatory cycle. Most dr's want to see progesterone over 10 for a natural cycle and over 15 for a medicated cycle.
I use OPK's and BBT together. Because OPK's will tell you when you are about to O so you can get BD'ing, and by taking your temps you can see a few days later by elevated temps that you did in fact O.
Good luck

I am on round two of clomid and my doc didn't get my blood work back to see if I ovulated. I do ovulate on my own mostly, but have the occasional annovulatory cycle so that might have been why. I do the same as Molly, OPK and then confirm with BBT. last cycle I got what I thought was a + on CD16 but didn't ovulate till CD24 according to my temp. this month I'm using some cheapo opk's and when I look like I'm getting a + I'll also use the clearblue digi one to make sure I don't miss out on seeing the surge.

Thank you Molly, I'm definitely going to push for a higher dose, especially if I don't get a +opk! My dr wanted to test on CD23, I'm guessing because I have a longer cycle?? I haven't been temping, mainly out of laziness lol. I probably will next round, especially since I've never gotten a +opk.

Lulu, maybe I'm just giving up too early, I'm on CD21. Last round I had O symptoms (cramping, bloating) around CD18, so I was expecting that again, but maybe it'll still happen!!

I gave up opk'ing last month because I thought I'd seen the surge. it's so frustrating not knowing when it's gonna happen!

Yeah, I didn't do OPK's last round, now I'm wondering if I'm "jinxing" it by doing them this round (my superstitious mind at work). I have a progesterone blood draw tomorrow, anxiously awaiting that!!! I'm just hoping my dr's office doesn't stay true to form and take forever to get back with my results.....

how did everything go Jay? have you got your bloodwork back yet?
so I've been opk'ing this month with the clearblue dual hormone, well yesterday I got a negative but today the smiley face is there but it's the peak fertility smiley face which is great but my question is why did I not get the high fertility flashing smiley face? I thought it quite odd..

Thanks for checking in!! I did get my bloodwork back, progesterone was at 7.3  According to my dr that means I O'ed, but I just can't help but think my number should be higher. I have no idea how a weak O would affect an OPK, but maybe that's why I never got an actual positive. Sounds like your OPK's are just as confusing as mine!! Maybe our LH surges are just short, so testing once a day isn't enough. At least you got that positive, yay!! Good luck, get to bd'ing!! :dust:
