Ok, so I know this is completely off topic, but I also know there the majority of the forum members are from the UK and may be able to ease my concerns.
Although recently there has been more reports of bed bugs in Toronto (where I live), it has never been something I've been too concerned with as I never experienced them nor did I know anyone who had ...that is until this summer.
Two of my daughter's friends (she's 16) now have households that are battling these bugs. Her first friend's family got them while spending the summer in Europe and although they tried everything to prevent bringing them back, these resiliant little critters traveled across the pond with them and have set up home in their house. They have hired pros to deal with the situation but it seems to be never ending for them.
Then just yesterday I found out her other close friend's brother came back from London and brought back some unexpected, very unwanted guests. Bed bugs again!
These are two of my daughter's closest friends. I've always had an 'Open Door' policy about having them over and feel so badly for their families situation. That being said, I feel I just can't risk being in the same situation especially with a new baby on the way any day now. I have requested my daughter to not have them over until the situation is resolved.
Am I being crazy? It just seems so easy for these bugs to travel from person to person and to be honest, I think I would lose my mind if we had to deal with having bed bugs right now.
