I posted this in the arts and crafts section but haven't had any replies really so...

As the title says, I've just been given a sewing machine. I haven't used one for years but want to make some bits and bobs. I was thinking of trying a cushion first and would also love to make a 'Lily' bunting banner once I'm more practised. Any other ideas of easy-ish things to make?

I was given a sewing machine last year, I had every intention of making a patchwork quilt. I've got all of the squares cut but still need to sew them together, really need to finish it off!

Yeah, a patchwork quilt would be nice!

Oooh I like that idea too, thanks! Just looked up how to make a patchwork quilt and the wadding/ backing it looks a bit scary :-/

I never got that far lol but was told they're actually quite easy to make if your just doing simple squares, I think there is a couple of different ways to do the wadding etc.

Yeah, I just looked at another website that looked easier...just the binding bit that looks a bit fiddly!

Binding is easy it just takes a bit of practice. I usually sew binding on on the wrong side (or the side that's going to be used least) first then fold it over and sew it on the right side xx
