sorry for the long post just want to here other peoples stories:

I was diagnosed with high prolactin two years ago but just under the dangerous level (seriously just under) so nothing was done, then I started trying about 15 months ago and nothing has happened so my GP transferred me to a FS, we had our appointment the other day and they are running:

sperm analysis

blood tests for:

prolactin
progesterone
rubella + mumps

x-rays to confirm ovulation

abdominal ultrasound to check for damage and blockage of both the uterus and kidney/bladder (I have kidney damage so get lots of infections)

basically, has anyone had any of this done before and what was it like?

im not too worried about the ultrasound as I had the exact same one done in November when I got septicemia from a bad kidney infection and they said I had no cysts, polyps or infections in the uterus, tubes or ovaries so I pretty sure that's not my problem, I also had a investigative laproscopy that looked fine as well

most worried about the blood tests as im pretty positive that its a hormonal problem (excess hair growth, breast discharge and increasingly bad acne)

slightly worried about the X-ray as i dont know what to expect at all but it must be bad as I have to be on BC that month apparently

the thing im finding hard is all these test will be dont this cycle (due to start any day) but regardless of results I have to wait three months until they start anything

Hi, try not to worry, all the tests I had were fine. I'll copy and paste what I wrote in another thread about my appointments

my 1st appointment with fertility specialist was spring/summer 2012 after first going to gp.

my GP thought possible PCOS due to long, irregular cycles so had Transvaginal scan (which ruled out PCOS) and DH had SA. We done these whilst waiting for FS appointment.

Had FS appointment and he said do another TV scan as had been a while since the last one and 'day 21' bloods but do it a week before I thought i would get AF (not actually day 21 due to long cycles this wouldnt show anything for me) so judged it by when my boobs started hurting as always get this 7 days before, DH had to do another SA.

Went back to FS who said day 21 bloods showed ovulation but borderline. Had to do it again but do it on days 21,28 and 35 and keep going til got AF, got AF day 42. Then had to do blood test on day 3 (think this was to check ovarian reserve)

DH was told to do 2 more SA's 2 months apart.

He said my 2nd scan showed a cyst which could be a sign of endometriosis and as I have long, heavy and very painful periods I also suspected this. For this reason he booked me in for a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and hsg in one under general anaesthetic rather than doing hsg and hysteroscopy as separate appointments.

I had this done on 4th Jan this year and everything was fine to my surprise, no pcos, endo, cysts or anything.

Had follow up appointment on 25th Jan and last lot of 21 day bloods showed ovulation and day 3 bloods were normal. Last 2 SA's were ok, altogether with the 4 SA's his count ranged from 13-84 million, morphology a bit low on one but high on the others so overall fine

FS concluded I just have long cycles and rarely ovulate which is a relief but at the same time frustrating!

FS prescribed 6 months clomid 100mg. I have now finished these and ovulated but BFN on all. Now just waiting for next FS appointment to come through to see what is next.

I understand your worries. I didn't know what to expect but every test I was overly worried for nothing. None of them were bad and I feared the worst at every one for no reason.

I'm not sure what X ray you mean though as ovulation is confirmed with a blood test unless its a mid cycle scan to see if you have produced any follicles in order to ovulate?

Hope this helps xx
