DS is 9 and a half months. He has always fed fine, we've never had any problems. But the last couple of weeks it's started to hurt when I feed him, only on one side though. Initially I thought it was teething issues, maybe a bad latch... But he's latching on fine and feeding ok. He has developed a bad habit if just pulling himself off when he's done.
It feels like he's sucking needles out if me when he feeds on that side... I really don't want us to stop feeding but I can't cope with this pain for much longer :-(

Have you got any breastfeeding support groups you can go to? They are usually supervised by health proffesionals who can help check latch, blocked ducts and generally figure out why.

Nothing like that here.... Not even a health visitor! I'm living in Saudi Arabia at the moment!

Could it be thrush? I've never had it (touch wood) but I've heard that it feels like sucking glass through your nipple

Possibly thrush yes, have a look in baby's mouth are there any white spots? Apart from the milk residue on the tongue. Even if there aren't any in the baby's mouth you may just have it in the breast, but when you go to the gp please make sure both you and the baby are treated as some GPS don't know that you should be and you can keep passing thrush back and forth xx
