Hi all im new to this website and im seeking a little advice if possible, me and my fiance are expecting our 1st baby on 13th November, we have everything sorted ie nursery, bathing bits, bottles, nappies, bedding, so many clothes, babygrows coming outta my ears and yesterday we collected our silvercross surf so we are both so excited and just waiting her arrival :flower:

All thats left is to find a name, why is it so difficult!!! We never in a million years thought it would be so hard.

The only name that we seem to have both liked up until now is Eva-Rose, what do you think peeps?

Thanks all, Lee

Is it just us then or does everybody find it difficult naming their baby?

I really like it but it's too popular for me. I know 3 born this year and 1 last year. I would be bothered she'd be in the same class with other girls with exactly the same name, but that's just me x

I know exactly what you mean but trying to find a unique name is nigh on impossible. I read somewhere that no matter how weird, wacky, out-there or unique a name you may choose for your baby, by the time she/he starts nursery school there will be someone else with that name

I like Eva-Rose. We found a lot of girls names we liked and made a big list and then picked the final one the day she was born. I recommend getting a book with lots and lots of names in it (I have one called 40,001 baby names). The first couple of books I looked at just didn't have enough names to look at - you need a really really thick book of names to go through!

It's the name we had if LO was a girl! Love it! We weren't going to hypenate though :flower: xx

Hi SpursDaddy - we are having huge problems finding names that we both like. We are team yellow so need to find one of each. I'm a school teacher too which complicates things further - every name I used to like, or that my OH suggests, is now associated with a child.

Eva-Rose is very pretty. I know that there are a lot of Evas and Avas about. But as you say, it's not necessarily a reason not to name your baby that if you like it.

(Incidentally we are both Spurs fans, my OH is named after Glenn Hoddle. Shame that there aren't any names we like in the current squad!)

It's not just you, Lee.
Despite having formed what I thought was a shortlist many weeks ago we ended up having another discussion last night. I really want a 'proper' name, but to call baby by a 'familiar' version. He doesn't like 'pure' names (he prides himself on being not-traditional). I've tried to point out that this is not like dyeing your hair a random colour for your birthday, this is something that our son will have to live with forever. Aaaaargh :grr:

Hinkybinky your job must hinder your baby naming technique, i bet your forever associating with children at your school, i feel for you lol
I didn't want to know the sex but my fiance kinda twisted my arm bless her, now that we know were team pink at least we can focus on just 1 half of the baby name book :)

I like the fact that theres a few Spurs fans floating about the forum too!

Hi Tulip, yeah it dawned on us a few weeks back that this name isn't just for christmas! I hope we get it right because i'd hate to think our little princess didn't like it when she grows up :winkwink:

My fiance likes traditional names Elizabeth-Rose and Florence-Rose.
I really liked Emily-Rose until i associated it with the film lol!
