Hi Ladies,
Thought I would put this here as well as in Announcements.
I was induced at 38+1 for signs of pre-eclampsia. I was given cervadil on day one and it didnt work, day two more cervadil, on day 3 ( I was already sick of being in the hospital) I was given the gel, ( can't remember what it was called) by mid afternoon it was clear that it would not work either. Doctor finally broke my water and put me on oxytocin. Woah! Things started happening finally.
A few hours later I was dialaed enough to start pushing. I pushed for an hour and the doctor said that my pelvis seemed narrow and baby " might" not fit. They brought the paperwork for a c section to my bedside and urged me to sign it. Nothing has gone well for me this pregnancy and Ihad my heart set on delivering my little girl vaginally, It meant a lot to me. I almost caved because the epidural didnt work( apparently this can happen!) and man, did it hurt. I looked at my husband, burst into tears and said "NO" as long as baby is safe I won't do it. They tried to push me but I begged for one more hour. Doctor said she would be back in an hour and unless I made big progress I would be sectioned. I was so determined, I pushed like a mad woman, like everything in the world depended on it. ( hubby said I looked like a mad woman but I never once screamed) An hour later baby had come down enough that they were comfortable letting me keep pushing. ( The doctor was amazed and they nurses kept saying they had never seen someone so hell bent on pushing before- I was smuggly pleased to proove the doctor wrong. Babys vitals were good ( I would have never refused a scetion if she was in danger) Even though baby was down lower I still had a lot of work to do. I ended up pushing from 9pm to 245 am. I was actually so exhausted I thought I would die with each set of contractions, I just kept thinking about holding my daughter. Finally, Valla Jillian King was in my arms! I forgot about the pain and exhaustion instantly. She was 6 pounds 8 ounces. She is our whole world. Born June 11th, 2012 at 2:45am
