I was due on April 2nd, but the days came and went and still no baby...As soon as I hit 40+1 (April 3rd), I seen my Midwife who did a sweep for me. I went for a walk after, but nothing. A few contractions on and off but nothing regular! So was really annoyed. on the 3rd day after my sweep, I was having this excruciating back pain, was finding it hard to sit down, and was getting regular contractions every 6-7 minutes. But they just stayed at that. No closer. So I started getting a bit agitated! In the end I phoned the on call midwife who came out to examine me, She did another sort of sweep on me, and when she checked I was 3cm. That was at about 4.30pm on the Saturday afternoon. By 12am Sunday morning I was in a lot of pain. I went to bed to try to sleep but kept getting woken up by this back pain - along with really bad period pains
By 3.00am, It was so bad that I woke OH up and got him to get hold of the hospital and my dad (who was taking us). Arrived at the hospital at 4.15am. I was 4cm. By 9.00am they checked me again, I was still at 4cm, they gave me a double dose of Pethidine to try to get some rest. My OH went for a walk and about 40 minutes later they checked me again as I was still ina lot of pain and could hardly rest, I was 9 and 1/2 cm!! They took me into the water birthing room, starting running the water but it was too later I needed to push! I got into every position I could, but our little Tyler would not get through the bend in the birth canal. I was in the second stage for about 3 hours and then got rushed to a bigger hospital where I was pushing for another hour, they were getting ready to give me an epidural or forceps but thankfully after a massive push I managed to push him out at 5.39pm! Weighing 7lb 11oz
We are so lucky, he is now just over 2 weeks old and keeping us on our toes! We love him so much!
