Hi ladies!

I know that its no unusual to find yourself out of breath at times during pregnancy but I didnt expect to so soon.

Today a new member of staff started and I was running them through things and I noticed I was incredibly out of breath from simply speaking.

I was talking in depth and for some time and I found myself struggling to get though a few sentences without my pulse rate feeling to rise and becoming very out of breath.

I've only gained 5lbs so I'm not big yet.

I do not Google!! I'd rather get your opinions!!!

What do you think????

x

It is normal to get breathless, as you're already using alot of energy to pump the extra blood round and stuff. Have you had any dizzy spells at all. Is you're skin paler than normal, or do you feel excessively tired (silly question :dohh: )

I do feel tired! I dont think I look paler - I still have a little colour from my jollies and I've not had any dizzy spells. I have had these swollen ankles though.

What are you thinking ???

You could be slightly aneamic. You're veggie too aren't you?

I am and I am borderline aneamic anyway. When I used to go to donate blood they sometimes refused it as I was borderline.

I'm not due to see anyone no till I'm 22 weeks - do you think I should go to the Drs?? I did have iron tablets with Em.

I think you can just buy them over the counter can't you. If you've taken them before you'll probably remember what strength to get. The pharmacist could tell you, but they get a bit funny giving you stuff when you're preggers.

Go and have a chat with your doc if you are worried darlin, but I am sure everything is fine, it sounds like quite a normal thing to be experiencing to me hun xxxxxxxxxxxx

Yeah, I would go and see the mw actually. do you have a drop in clinic... or a phone number to speak to them between apps?

No drop in unfortunately. I can ring them though between 8.30 and 9.30. I'll try to that but I had an assembly dumped on me last thing today so I might struggle.....:growlmad:

If I dont manage to talk to them in the morning I should be able to catch them on weds.

xx

Hi, sounds like you could be anaemic and need iron tablets. Def get and see your midwife as soon as. xx

I'm off to bed now. See you in the morning. :) xxx

make an pp with your usual doc then. they'll prob refer you to the midwife if they can't treat you themselves

Well since you had problems with anemia before, you should take iron tablets...as you know they work pretty good.
But it can wait till wen if it has to since it doesn't sound very intense...
:hugs:

:dohh: But the issue I see now has already been resolved by Ann-Marie-Action-man...and 10 minutes before going to bed...I'm impressed.

I get out of breath a lot, but this didn't happen until I got further along (closer to 20-25 weeks). I heard it is very common to do this because you are sharing your oxygen with your baby.

If you have both swollen ankles and breathlessness, then it could be you're retaining fluid in inappropriate places for a variety of reasons and so I'd def recommend you speak to your midwife/doctor asap just in case. On the other hand the two could be unrelated and anaemia is always an option.

Hope you feel better soon :hugs:

im already short of breath too, i was wondering the same but just figured it was normal?
