Outraged!

So today i finally had enough of coughing my lungs up and stuffing tissues up my nose and went to the doctors to make an appointment for either tomorrow or the next day, to my annoyance the bloody receptionist just looked at me and said i'd have to ring at 8.30 in the morning because they are fully booked for the next 3 weeks and i probably wont get one unless its an emergency. WELL sorrrry that i am worried my summer cold will affect my unborn baby, and another thing thats pissing me off is the fact that my last hospital appointment was July 8th, they didnt give me my notes, and havent scheduled me for ANYTHING at all until 16th september, now surely that can't be right? i don't have any contact numbers for a midwife, i dont even have a particular midwife, i have no ante-natal appointments, no check ups even at the doctors, surely that can't be right? there shouldnt be such a big gap until my next appointment when im due in october am i right? it's like they've forgotten about me =(

That really doesn't sound right! Is this your first? I had antenatal checks every 4 weeks from 16 weeks onwards and every 2 weeks for the last 2 months of my pregnancy as it was my first (although different areas do work differently).

I can't believe you don't have your notes and no midwife or contact numbers - you really should have the number of your local mat ward, and emergency delivery suite.

If I were you I would phone the docs and explain what has happened.

You should be getting appointments atleast every 6 weeks until you're 32 weeks then they usually bump it up to every 2 weeks and they see you every week or so when you're full term until you have baby. Just ask for an emergency appointment :\

yeah it's my first, i feel like they've just not paid me much attention causei m 18 and they think i wont know any better =(

My appointments were orignally set out to be every 6-8 weeks. You should have your notes though, as if you have to go to the hospital in any kind of emergency they really need your notes for all your details x

Hey where abouts in NI are you? You should be having contact with a midwife at least. Are you going to the Ulster or the Royal? I have numbers if you need them.

how far gone are you hunni. and that dosent sound right at all ive got my next appoinmnet with a doc at 24 weeks and then another appoinment with the midwife at 27 weeks especially as its your first. i would ring your midwife hun big hugs

What do you mean by notes? As where im from you dont get your notes back until 20wks ... all you get is a little pull out slip thing.

You'll find a lot of doctors operate like that and book up in advance, then have emergancy clinics first thing in the mornings and usually late afternoon

Antrim town! And im going to Antrim area, been offered a place at the royal though as Doctor Tubman is one of my goodfriends dad's and he'd take care of me! can't get an emergency appointment at the doctors until next week =( ridiculous like, 26 weeks and 5 days, i feel so left out and worried!

I got my notes back after my first scan u need them in case of emergency i'd call the doctor u sed is looking after you and let him no make sure u tell him how u feel about the way u are being treated!! if ur 26 weeks then u should have another appt at 28 weeks depending on how they do things in ur area.

I have my notes i got them at 14 weeks. They're in a blue folder. It's all the info they have like my booking in qs and i assume that my blood results and BPs etc etc will be in there too. i think its incase you have to go to hosp. in an emergency you can take ur notes with you so they know exactly what ur pregnancy has been like.
