Ovarian Drilling

Hello,

Just wondered if anyone had Ovarian Drilling and how successful it was?

I had it done on 06/11/08 and have had one period currently on cd18.

I do not have any cycle normally? I have been using OPK's since cd10 and have not ov'd yet?

I just wondered how long it took for a cycle to develop?

Ruthie 1 - no experience of this personally, but i have a friend who had this procedure. She got pregnant straight away - in fact, she found out she was pregnant when she went for a scan to find out why she hadn't had AF! So it worked for her!

I had the ovarian drilling done on sat alongside Lap and Dye. So to soon to tell but my consultant is highly positive for concieving in the next three months. Just got to get busy!!

HI ladies I am new to the site and here is a little about my story! I have been trying to find a forum about ovarian drilling.

TTC 2004
PCOS
3 rounds of clomid up to 150
Test for tube blockage no problems
Went on to RE 2 IUI's one with Repronex no HCG and the second with Gonal-F with HCG with the result of
I left RE cant afford anymore cycles total cost was 6000.00 with meds..ooch!!
Went to a new OBGYN and she decided on putting me back on the pill for 6 months and got cycles back but no pregnancy, I dont think I ovulated.
Jan. 9, 2009 she did a DNC and ovarian drilling. OBGYN says my ovaries had a very white thick skin to it and probably was blocking my eggs from dropping. She put as many holes as she could. DNC and had some tissue she had to scrap but all in all looked good.
I had major pain going in to the recovery room...MORPHINEEEEEE !!!! I was moaning like in labor they say. If that is what labor feels like then I need pain meds with child birth. After about six shots I was fine and then onto reg darvocet and was fine. The recovery was a breeze except for my bell button.
I am having problems with my belly button incision healing, I think I dont do disovable stitches well, they keep coming out. I was up and about in 3 days. I didnt have any pains from the procedure, it was the gas pains in my shoulder. This was a pain in the butt. My shoulder was in so much pain for about 4 days. They say that the gas part can be the worst from the surgery well they were right.

ALL IN ALL I had my first period on Feb 1 2009 and it was a heavy, crampie period and had to see Doc and I stayed very heavy till I finished. Never had that before. I am on cd 25 and bd every other day this cycle and hoping something happened. If not I am going back on 100 clomid starting next cycle. The doctor seems to think that if its going to happen it happens in the first 6 months.

Any replies would great, any questions I am happy to answer. Need some support here I am freaking out and need support to help get to the

Hi ladies,

I am not TTC but saw your post and just wanted to reply to you. I was TTC for years, PCOS. I tried clomid and that didn't work and ended up having ovarian drilling, 6 holes on both ovaries. My period started back the month after, I ovulated, without fail on day 18 after I had the drilling but my specialist said it still my take a while as all the 'gunk' had to clear out (he didn't acutally use that terminology!!!). I was having very regular blood tests to help me know what my prog levels were up to. It took 6 months after the drilling but I got a BFP. My daughter who is now 2.5 years old was born 9 months later with no complications. I did have some bleeding during the pregnancy but nothing too bad.

The ovarian drilling worked wonders for me, without out it I truly believe that my daughter would not be here.

PS.... sorry meant to add this to the last post. I am now pg again, I didn't need the drilling but did suffer two m/c (after my daughter was born) so with this pg they put me on aspirin and progesterone.

It has taken lots of assistance to get my where I am, drugs, operations etc... but it just goes to show that anything is possible.

Thanks emmag!!! I have been on asprinin and thyroid med (dont have a thyroid problem, she says it could be borderline) for about 6 months. I feel like they give me a stronger period. Do you think that was the case? I am out of town with hubby for business so I am no where near my obgyn and feel nervous. DO you think that using the ovulation kits would work for me being PCOS and clomid use? I was going to buy one but it keeps sayin if you have these things it wont work as well. I cant tell when I ovulate!!!!! I havent in so long, I dont know what to expect from my body. I have read every symptom and man everybody is different. I am currently cd 26 have had soar boobs for 2 weeks, cramps, headaches and yes a sore belly button...LOL!!!

Hi there, I didn't use OPK's when I was on clomid, they had me doing blood tests twice a week to try and see what was going on. I was on Clomid and metformin before I had the Ovarain drilling. My problem was that I didn't get periods at all (until the drilling) so I am not sure about whether or not the clomid would give you a heavier period. Sorry I can't be of more help.

If you can get regular blood tests done I would go with that as it gives you a really good idea of what your prog levels are - which is what you need to ovulate.

Ok I am now cd 32, still have soar boobs after 2 1/2 weeks and I started af cramps yesterday. I thought for sure I was gonna start and nothing. Could this be implantation cramps, do they come around when af is due? I went and bought some pg test. The first responce ones with early detection. But wanted to wait a few more days to see if af shows up. O I wish I could figure this out!!! If I am gonna start I wish I would so I can start the new cycle. This stuff is so frustrating. Can I be preggo????
