Over 35 and overdue?

Hello

Anybody else overdue?
I'm 41 and 3 days past my edd. I've got a sweep booked for next Tuesday but no one seems particularly worried about me being overdue whereas I had read that they are usually reluctant to let older mums go past edd.

I don't want intervention but there must be a reason for this policy - I believe it's because the placenta potentially breaks down faster than with younger mums...

What is your experience?

Odds are you are fine, some docs are over cautious. Minemonitors with weekly U/S after 38 weeks for 'older' women and offers induction (if you want it) any time after your due date over a certain age. But not every doc does...

Well, the E in EDD is for ESTIMATED. They say it can go 2 weeks either side. So two weeks early or late. I'm betting that sweep will get things moving, especially if you are already dilating and effacing. I had that done with several of mine and within 48 hours was in hard labor.
