Overweight during pregnancy causes what type of risks? If the doctor says I'm healthy other than my extra weight, should I be really concerned? My blood pressure came back normal(which is really low), my cholesterol and other lipids came back in the healthy zone or low zone...although I'm trying to lose weight...do most overweight people actually have healthy babies? Help!!!!

They can and more often than not do have completely healthy babies! There is, however, an increased risk of miscarriage, especially in obese women.

Yes, it's totally possible to have a healthy pregnancy and baby when overweight. But there is an increased risk of miscarriage, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and pre-term birth. But your doctor should monitor you carefully if you're very overweight.

I'm on the larger side too but I'm generally healthy so I'm hoping once I finally get my bfp I won't have too many problems.

There are slightly increased risks, but if you're healthy generally, I doubt you'll have trouble. Just make sure you're eating healthy and keeping an eye out for any symptoms that could point to gestational diabetes or something. My overweight friends have all had totally normal, healthy babies. The only person I can think of who had trouble (and that was with her, not the baby) was seriously majorly overweight - like hundreds of pounds overweight.

Not to scare you and it's unlikely BUT they say being overweight could lead to having a child with autism... not 100% proven and no clue what that has to do with autism, but it's just one of those theories out there!
