Hi!!! I nursed my first for 16 months so I am aware of the usual pain involved in nursing. I have a 4 week old now and we are nursing. Woke up this morning with one breast extremely tender to the touch. It doesn't hurt to nurse from that side and I don't feel a blocked duct. No fever or red streaks like you see with mastitis. Any ideas?

I've been getting pain on the outside of both breasts and was concerned initially until i realised that it seems to coincide with feeding/expressing and if the breast has been 'sucked' too much even when no milk is coming out. I'm assuming my LO does this to encourage more production but it can leave the ducts feeling raw and its as tho the veins in my breasts r throbbing and sore.

prob didnt explain that too well but i'm hoping it'll settle down round the 6 week mark when production is better established x

Any redness in the nipple area? Could be a sign of thrush, or it could just be strange breast pain lol.
