my emergency section was almost 10 weeks ago and today I've got really bad stomach pains. I appreciate they could be unrelated but it feels like my wound is open and sore - its definitely not but that's the best way to describe how it feels. plus a left side cramping agony (which side is appendix?) sorry but I'm sick of OH suggesting I'm making the pains up to get out of dtd, I almost want it to be serious so I can say told you so lol, it hurts so much, anyone else get pains this long after?

I am 15 weeks post section, and I can tell you YES ITS NORMAL TO HAVE PAIN!. I just got up from settee a bit quick and my right side by my wound gave me a lovely pain. I went to a concert where i danced a little and yes I had pain. I thought after 3 months everything would be 'normal' so when my lo had his injections I had a word with my nurse, she said to me its totally normal to still feel post operative pain for up to a year!. you have to remember how many layers the surgeons had to cut through to get to your uterus to get to your baby. It is major abdominal surgery at the end of the day, and yes when im in pain I dont feel like DTD, my DH understands and gets me some painkillers and a drink with no pressure for sex at all. Your OH seems a little careless of the extent of what happened to you only 10 weeks ago. if it was any other major surgery drs advise people to be on rest for 6 weeks- this cannot happen with a newborn, so healing is going to be slower. all your OH needs to do is research it on the internet.
annoying OH aside, if your wound is oozing anything out of it or showing signs of opening PLEASE PLEASE go to your gp as you will need antibiotics. This happened to me 1 week after the op, more predominantly on my right side which is where i still get the pain. But if not, when it hurts take some painkillers try not to lift the next day apart from your baby of course.

I hope this information helps

heres some links for info or to show your OH if you wish :)

I just had my section 5 days ago so I can't help you there but I will say that your appendix is on your lower right quadrant so basically right in your hip bone area. The pain from that can start from your navel and work its way down your pubic line.

As PP has stated I think that pain is pretty normal. If the pain is debilitating, though, I would probably have it checked out! Appendicitis is pretty painful and is life threatening if left untreated so be sure to keep an eye on it.

Good luck!

I am nearly 6 months post-op and I am still having pains although on the face of it, it has all healed well. Def feels different dtd still, but getting better week by week!
My consultant told me could be 9 months before feels "normal".

I'm in quite a bit of pain but not constantly, it comes and goes. Yesterday I couldn't even bear to bounce the baby on my knee because it was pulling something that really hurt. My nana thinks I should get to the drs but if the outside wound looks fine I honestly can't see that they're going to do anything about it :/
