Pain!!

I'm bf'ing my 2week old dd and the last few days I'm getting alot of pain when she latches on and for the first 20-30seconds. The pain radiates into my shoulder and I get very tense, once sucking is established its fine.
Sounds crazy but honestly this pain is so sharp it's worse than the contractions! It's making me dread feeding her and makes me want to start bottle feeding!
Anyone had this? Know what causes it?
I'm using lanolin but my nipples are cracked and sore and very tender

It could be your letdown as your latch sounds fine. Try expressing some by hand first just before the feed as that may help. My letdown really stung badly. It will get better. There are so many nerve endings in the breasts and nipples and they are basically going through something new to them. Keep using the lanolin. You've done a brilliant job to get to two weeks, keep going and take one day at a time.
