Anyone breastfeeding and find their LO is in pain when they are pooping? She starts to cry (high pitch) and I cannot console her. Then I hear her pooping.. continue to cry, until she is done (which can take a while).

Tried rubbing her belly, moving her legs, gripe water (may work a little, either that or distracts her).

The two things I am now considering are: Allergy to dairy and nursing from one boob per feeding instead of switching. I read too much fore milk can upset their little bellies.

Thoughts and experiences?

My LO always fusses when she needs to poop. It is better now that she is older, but I think at first it was a shocking experience and she had no other way to communicate. Good luck!

I'm also experiencing this too. She also poops a lot it seems (poop almost every change) at 5 weeks.

My boy used to scream horribly when he pooped or passed wind...it really hurt him. Feeding them stimulates their digestive system which is why the pooping often happens after you've been feeding for a little while. Sadly, this is just normal for some babies. Mine began to outgrow it around 12 weeks ...although it had started to improve before then. There was nothing we could really do except wait it out. I used to let him wriggle on the floor as much as possible and bicycle his legs to help release trapped wind.
