Hiya all,

Im really really worried and hoping you can help me..

Ive been bf Harry and taking painkillers occasionally for the after pains. They are tesco extra strong pain relievers and i thought they were a mix of paracetamol and ibuprofen, which i know are safe while bf.

I looked at the pack tonight and i realised they are paracetamol and aspirin, and the leaflet says 'do not take if you are.... pregnant or breastfeeding'

The 1st 24hrs after Harry was born i was taking two of them every 4 hours but since then i have only taken them if it hurts, and no more than 4 tablets a day, some days ive taken none.

Im really really terrified and really hoping someone can help me....

Just stop taking them and switch to normal meds (paracetamol and ibuprophen).

They don't want anyone under the age of 12 years (at least) taking aspirin due to the increased possibility of developing Reye's Syndrome. The active ingredients in aspirin do pass into the breastmilk, so don't take anymore.

Don't panic, just stop taking the meds, give your doc a quick call tomorrow and let them know what's going on, and ask if they want to see little one. More than likely everything's alright and you won't have to worry anymore.
