Hi ladies,

I'm just over 17 weeks pregnant and have had 2 emcs I knew when I had the second c-section that there was a lot of scar tissue from the 1st but at my scan they struggled to get images of the baby or take any measurements because of my high BMI and excessively bulky scar tissue this has panicked me as I remember at the 2nd section they were there ages cutting out scar tissue and stitching and stapling me up.

I would love a natural birth but because of never going past 38 weeks before problems with the placentas I have no choice but to have another c-section I'm really worried about excess bleeding or complications like blood clots. My hospital and midwife are awful and blame everything on weight I know they won't give me any answers I I ask them. Anyon else had a lot of scar tissue? Any problems?

I find it unfair and pretty awful of your midwives and hospital to just blame everything on weight! That's just wrong. As far as I know, it's a genetical predisposition that causes some people to manufacter lots of scartissue (or not). I don't know if weight could contribute, but it's definitely not the sole cause.

I don't have excessive scartissue, but I do have quite bit. I'm underweight. I've had 4 c-sections, and it went just fine. I did bleed quite a bit with my last one, but it was because the uterus was stretched unbelievably thin due to early labour contractions. I also got clexane injections (bloodthinners) twice after the c-section. I never asked the dr why. Could be due to my age (I'm 38).

Try not to worry. And good luck!

yes me! i'm not particularly overweight and I am due 3rd c-section, at my second last year when the opened me up they found the scar tissue from the previous was really bad and as they cut through the scar tissue to get to my uterus they cut my bladder accidentally by 1cm, as it was unseen under the scar tissue and the bladder was actually attached to my uterus... I was on the table for over an hour or so afterwards while they cut scar tissue away and stitched me up etc. That emcs was after an attempt at vbac as my first baby was born by emcs also, I have never given birth vaginally.

I too am pretty scared hun, I would like to just be induced again and given another chance at vaginal delivery, even though I am advised planned c-section, their reason being that they don't want to risk me being in a rush emcs situation again where time is of the essence incase I run into more complications.... yet on my side I have the whole aftermath and lenghty healing process that c-section is, with a 9 year old at home and my daughter who will be 16 months old, wanting her mummy cuddles and and she never stops, my partner is only off 2 weeks of the 6 I am unable to drive or lift heavy objects for :(

I get my date for c-section next week and I am hoping I just go into labour myself before the date LOL and go from there, Though I have been told by my midwives and consultant that even if I go into labour I would be taken straight for c-section on arrival at hospital, no mention of whether they would examine me to see if I am dilated or how far...i have had slow failure to dilate in my two prev labours, hence the emcs also babies heartbeats were struggling and tired.. I got to 8cm in my last pg, I just think this one would go to ten !! LOL I just have a gut feeling

I have had one emergency c section and two elective c sections (All in under three years) My third c section went more smoothly than the first two and I was told I had alot of scar tissue x
