I work out on a regular basis. I am obese, and had lost 70 lbs before getting the "ok" from my doctor to TTC. With both of my previous miscarriages, I had not worked out during the first part of the pregnancy (after finding out) out of fear of causing a problem. In both cases, I decided to go ahead and get a workout in (just cardio, no weights) and the next day I miscarried. In both cases!
This time around, I am so scared to exercise thinking that it is linked to my previous miscarriages, even though my doctor told me that it was just a coincidence. Anyone else scared to work out?

I would avoid it if I were you. That doesn't sound coincidental to me. Take it easy, make sure you are eating healthy, and don't stress too much about working out. You will have plenty of time to get yourself back in shape after baby, and it'll be worth it when you finally have your baby:)

I agree, I wouldn't work out if I were you. I'm paranoid about working out. I haven't at all during this pregnancy as I worked out pretty intensely with my first and ended up miscarrying. It just makes me feel better knowing that I'm doing things differently this time. Just try to eat healthy and take care of yourself! :) Good luck!!

Thanks guys. I did go to the gym today. But all I did was walk on the treadmill. I was too scared to even do the elliptical. I figure walking shouldn't be too bad. I'll keep it at that.

I lost loads of weight post-mc and pre-pregnancy, as well -- (not the gym, tho -- walking and cycling), I gave up the exercise bike, and my GP recommended just walking and taking it easy -- altho there is no direct evidence that 'working out' can cause a mc, I would just take it easy....

also, it will be strange the first few weeks/months, but it's time to relearn some eating habits (I lost weight by eating healthily, so 40-45lbs over a year), and I had to learn to eat every few hours (small meals, or dividing food over the day), and altho, I have gained 30-35lbs, both the GP and dietician feel that it's okay as my diet is now pretty healthy....(I am 30wks+, so estimated to gain all the weight back by the end, but as my OH points out, I'll lose 20lbs when baby, etc., come....)

best wishes (and congrats!)
