Anyone been to/go to this?

It's a course designed for 16-19 year old mums or mums-to-be and it teaches you things like child safety, practical parenting, bonding and play ect ect.

I start mine today and im really nervous lol

that sounds really good! I'm not sure we have that in Australia, I am studying childrens services though next year which covers similar things and leads to a career

didnt want to read and run hope it goes well hun xx

That sounds like a really good idea to have a class like that. Not only do you get to learn stuff that you will actually use and that could be helpful but you get to meet other teen moms and moms-to-be.

I wish there was something like that in my area. There should be since every year, without fail, at my high school someone gets pregnant. And we have a school with 150 highschoolers total (9th-12th grade).

Good luck with the class. I hope it goes well.

Thanks girls.

The course went really well. It's only 2 hours long so it's not that long, but on the first day we all introduced ourselves, there was 11 of us there and only 3 of us pregnant! All the other had already had their babies, which was good because i think thats better for me, as i can get advice and stuff from them!! We then done a quick quiz about each other, and then we talked about the likes and dislikes of being a normal parent to those being a younger parent. It was really interesting, especially to be around a group of girls who are all going through/been through the same thing.

Got it again today at half 1, and im really looking forward to it :D, it gives me something to do and a good way to socialise!

IF any of you do get offered somewhere like this i advise you to atleast try! It is a really good course x

How did you get into it? is it through connexions or something like that?

x

im on a course like this its called Bumps 2 Babes so pregnant teens only its a 10week course for about 3hours aday 4days aweek where we learn about being pregnant, what we need, how to do things for baby when he/she is here like make bottles, change nappies ect
and get some Q's out of it like maths, english, imporving own learning, working together, baby first aid :happydance:

but the mums who have been on the course before sometimes come in with there babies and we are allowed to hold them, change nappies and sometimes feed them if the mummy does not mind and we get to ask them questions about there birth what bottles there useing and why or why they picked to brestfeed and stuff like that..

i think its great but my course ends middle of next month :hissy: but there is another one you can do once baby is born and i think thats our Parents with prospects but its for people who are mums only here so slightly different to yours

but like you i would recomend any course like this mine was though my teen pregnancy midwife who got me on this one

EDIT::

we also have people from houseing, benifits, conections, and the health lady come in to talk to us

the health lady talks to us about what we want to do once we have had the baby like if we want the pill or whatever so we can get it as soon as allowed to after birth

I was on this... I hated it. I despised the girls on the course, they had no respect for anything and were rude, vile people. I seriously felt sorry for their kids, I actually ended up sat at home crying for their babies and the lives they were being born into. I quit the course a few weeks ago :p

I really hope your one has nicer people on the course, I'm sure that without them nasty wastes of oxygen the course would've been really good :)
