Hello, has anyone applied for a passport for their child when the father isn't involved? His name is on their birth certificate but he hasn't seen them since Christmas and before that it was February 2015! He doesn't even ask how they are any more.

My worry is that as his name is on their birth certificate I will need his and his parents info (he was born after 1982 so need parents info too) in order to apply and we are booking a holiday for September!

Anyone have any info? TIA

Sorry I don't know for sure. Your best to just ring up the passport helpline and ask them as they will be able to give you the best advice. Take the person who you speak to name so that if you have any problems you can say you were advised by them. Good luck :)

Yes you will still need the information from them, I had to get it from my ex and his parents before I applied for DD passport.

I've recently done this and all I entered in was me ex's details and his parents full names. No date of births or date of marriage. Then in the comment box I put 'Not in contact with child's father to obtain information'. Mine was accepted fine but the kids family does have an uncommon surname so that may have made it easier.
