Hi, I´ve been diagnosed with PCOS, because my LH/FSH ratio is 3:1. I don´t have any polycystic ovaries - according to my gynae and no other symptoms, but just this LH/FSH ratio which is elevated.

Various checks at my Endo. revealed that I have PCOS. And next Thurs they are going to run a 2-hr test for glucose intolerance test. I assume the purpose is to see if they should put me on Metformin.

I would want to ask if any of you have had this issue before? I´ve been battling hormonal issues like crazy even before I can TTC. Quite a bummer....

hi, sorry i havent had this test but i would love to know what the outcome of your test is...cos like you i have pcos but not any other symptoms like hairy chest and overweight...i wondered if i should be put on metformin and have a GGT to help my insluin cos apparently that might affect fsh:lh levels,. my blood glucose test came back normal but that still doesnt show if i might need metformin for pcos right?!

Hey chick,

I've had this test before. They basically take a blood test, give you a sugary drink then take another bloodtest, wait a couple hours then take another blood test. It's basically to see how well the drink absorbs into your system. Very boring!

I fully sympathize with your situation. I have PCOS and Endo too, and have always had problems in one way or another for what seems to be forever.

Just noticed you're in Germany too!

Hey Trying4ever

Oh yeah I heard that some women have "normal glucose test" but still take Metformin. What´s GGT? Is that similar to Metformin? What´s your FSH/LH level? Is it similar to mine? Do you know if you ovulate regularly?

Hi babe

Cool! You´re in Germany too? Is yr OH a German? Like mine?

What was the results of your test? Thanks for sympathizing...its really a pain, isn´t it? Some people get PG immediately and some like myself find out one problem after the next the month we started NTNP.

So I read you´re tracking now? What medication did you use? Are you doing that at your Endo or Gynae?

Yes my Hubby is German hehe ^^ Small world ey :D

Ah I've been around alot tbh rofl. I started out at the Gynae, then went to Fert. Specialist, then to Endocrinologist, Back to Specialist, Off to the Hospital, back to Specialist! I'm currently in tww after my tracking. Was tracking on Puregon 50iu, was triggered on Pregalon. This was done at the specialist. I've been given the run around over the last couple of years though. Complicated with having several problems and Thyroid issues. My glucose test was clear though so thank goodness for small miracles!

Do you find the German system a little slow? It took me ages to get to the stage I'm at now, through the continuous red tape:wacko:

It does suck chick  I find it difficult because I'm so far from home and am desperate for a little family of my own, but it's just not happening.

Hey Nathyrra

Wow, you´re in the 2ww? That´s amazing! I haven´t heard of Puregon onor Lupron before. What are they? Are they supposed to induce ovulation? I´ve only heard of Metformin. Have you heard of that? Apparently they are supposed to be good for PCOS women.

Yeah! I find the German system Very slow actually. I thought by now they would prescribe me Metformin but instead I´ve got to wait 1.5 wks before I can go for my glucose test and then probably another 1 week before I can start any medication for my PCOS. But maybe its because they are very cautious here?

Where are you from originally? How long have you been TTCing?

Yeah, I know what you mean about being away from home! I´m like 13 plane hours away from my country....though I must say that I´m quite used to life here....minus the freezing cold and still not 100% used to the language yet.

Hey chick,

My doctor didn't feel I needed Metformin because I don't have an insulin resistance. I was put on Clomid which is an ovary stimulant for 3 cycles but it didn't do anything for me at all! So Puregon is an ovary stim. in injection form. It worked far better for me! Lupron was just for my Endometriosis :) I don't have to take that anymore. ^^

I'm from England, it's been 2 years for me now!

Yeah I think the system here is very thorough, in the long run I'm sure it's a good thing but if you're impatient like me it's a nightmare  Good thing about Germany is because the birth rate is so low they try very hard to get you pregnant!

hehe you're probably much better than me at German though! I'm still a beginner. It's all very confuzzling :D

:hugs:

Hey dear!
:) Oh glad to know the differences! I see. I will find out in a week or so whether I have insulin resistance. I don´t know what to hope! Because on one hand, I wish I am NOT resistant to insulin, on the other, I have SO many good stories of Metformin that I´m hoping to take it!!!! Geez. That´s crazy isn´t it?

May I ask when you used Clomid, did you go for tracking too? Did you manage to ovulate with that? What about now? Are you taking your body temperature? Or how do you know if you ovulate with Puregon?

Oh great! Does that mean that you don´t have Endometriosis anymore??? :)

Do you really think the docs here really try to get your pregnant? hahah. That would be really funny! Btw, does your insurance pay for all your medical bills to get pregnant? Or have you had to pay for some of the costs yourself?

I hear you really!!! I am quite impatient to get pregnant too. Actually I wasn´t, until my AF stopped for a long time!!! Then I became obsessed. And now, I´m trying to make plans in between that only work if I´m NOT pregnant, so that I can "comfort" myself if I´m not pregnant so soon!

Did you go for German classes or did you start work immediately? I did learn German for 1 full year before I started working here. Makes a LOT of difference really, than learning it from friends or from your hubby.
I´m hoping that my AF would come by next week, so that I know if I´m pregnant or not before I go skiing next Sat!

How are you feeling now? When can you test if you´re pregnant??? **Excited for you!!!***
