Hi ladies :)

As the title says I'm looking for some advice

I didn't know I had pcos until after I had my 2nd miscarriage, I had enlarged ovaries and a higher level of testosterone.

I was given 500mg of metformin daily and I very quickly fell pregnant again with my son within the month if starting metformin.

Fast forward to now were ttc#2 and I got put back on metformin about March time. I had a period on the 3rd April that lasted about 8 days and and I was buckled in pain on the 15th and bleeding so I took a pregnancy test well 4 and they all came back positive. I ended up admitted to hospital and a scan the next day showed an empty womb. Levels dropped from 195 on the 15th maymay to 47 on the saturday the 17th. My next blood test was the following Friday and my levels were less than 3 and I was discharged.

I had a pelvic scan 2-3 months ago and my ovaries were a normal size etc. No obstructions.

My problem now is for the past few months ive ovulated rather late. Eg cd20-23 is when ive had a positive opk making my LP really short.

I'm thinking of upping my metformin to 1000mg per day instead of 500mg (apparently this can lengthen the lp) my prescription label on the met says initially start with 500mg and my previous doctor told me to up it after a week. Ive upped it today and im going to try and get an appointment in the morning for the Dr but has this helped anyone else?

I started brown spotting on the 1st thats lasted till today and still no af but negative pregnancy tests. Assuming I ovulated the day after I got a positive opk I would only be 12dpo and 1 day late.

Any advice would be very much appreciated :) xx

Hello!

I started out on 500mg Metformin, went up to 1000mg got a natural AF but know on CD 60 something. I called my Dr. today to see if he would up my Metformin to 1500mg. It seems to me I had a natural AF due to upping the metformin but hopping upping it again will bring regular natural AFs!

Blessings & Babydust,

I have been on Metformin since January of this year when I was diagnosed with PCOS. We have been trying to conceive since August of last year. I had one period at the beginning of January before Metformin. I started at 500 mg twice a day. For the last month I have been taking 1000 mg twice a day. After four months of no period, I finally had one at the beginning of this month. I am hoping to ovulate this cycle. This will be the first time my husband and I will have had the chance to try and conceive again. Am interested in other peoples experience with Metformin/PCOS ad conceiving. Feeling Slightly hopeful.

I've always had a period every month without fail, I was given method min because I didn't ovulate all the time like in could ovulate once in 3 months kind of thing. I was given 500mg in feb 2012 and found out I was pregnant again on the 1st march and now I have a happy 1.5 year old son.

I've been able to get pregnant myself without the use of metformin but I've always miscarried. I've upped it to 1000mg myself to see how I get on this cycle. If I don't ovulate I'm coming off metformin for a month to see how I get on because my scan showed normal sized ovaries for a change.

I swear I wouldn't have my son if it wasn't for the metformin, I had success, remain hopeful :) xx

Blessings & Babydust,

Do you maybe just have long cycles? It's a possibility, there's only so much metformin you can take in a day though. There's something else that brings on periods too, I can't remember the name of it but apparently it's quite effective :).

I'm hoping the 1000mg works for me but if it doesn't I'm gonna try a cycle without it as I start the Clearblue trial next cycle :) but I'm using a cbfm this cycle along with internet cheapies x

Hello,

Sorry I didn't mention I have PCOS. My Dr. called and he said use Provera to induce a period and on CD 1 start taking 500mg of metformin 3 times a day. If that doesn't bring on an AF within 60 days I am to make an apt and go see him. So I am praying this amount of metformin will make my cycles more regular.

It is encouraging you got pregnant with Metformin alone in first pregnancy!
