Hi Ladies

I'm fairly new to this board and hope through sharing some of our good and bad experiences we can help each other.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a book or website that gives eating advice for women trying to conceive who have pcos and underactivethyroid.

I suffered my third miscarriage in April and certain foods doctors tell you to eat with pcos can't be eaten with underactive thyroid, ie too much broccoli, spinach or soya products. Considering that both conditions go hand in hand I'm surprised how hard it is to find one book combining advice the on two conditions. I've got the PCOS diet book but some of the menu plans are so unrealisticand time consuming forthemodern woman!

I appreciate any advice as I'm at a loss.

Xxxxx

Hello, I have hypothyroidism also. I have not been recieving treatment for it until just recently because I found out I am pregnant. Do you have any kids? I really would love to talk to you about your pregnancies.. I thought I was miscarrying this baby because I had bleeding for a few weeks and then the bleeding stopped but now the baby is growing slow. I am really worried a miscarriage is in the future for me... were you getting treatment for your thyroid when you were pregnant. Also my grandma and aunt both have PCOS and Hypothyroidism and when they were pregnant they ate normal foods just shied away from very salty/greasy foods... Have you talked to your doctor about a diet plan or contacted a specialist? Sorry wish I could help more. I am excited to find another person with hypothyroidism.. :)

Hello and welcome :hi: I'm sorry I don't have any advice on the foods etc, but I hope you will get some help from people here who have been through this. I hope things work out well for you :) xx

Welcome! I have gone through 2 pregnancies and 3 miscarriages with hypothyroidism, diabetes and PCOS. Avoiding the "white" stuff and eating a lot of protein seems to cross all 3 lines as being good things. Hang in there!

Hi There Brooke

I am sooooo sorry I have not got back to you! I didn't get any notification of replies and got busy with life I guess.

How have you been since your message to me back in September? I hope you have some good news? Mish xxxx

Hello mishky and brooke.

I have hypothyroid that I take a daily medication for. I also have PCOS. Yes there are books out there but I don’t bother buying them. If you take vitamins and nutrients to support your thyroid and then take vitamins and nutrients to help with the PCOS and follow a low carb diet (no sugar, pasta, rice, flour, potato, corn) you should be able to have a baby. There is a high risk of miscarriage with either disease, but I think as long as everything is under control women with hypothyroid and PCOS are perfectly capable of having healthy children.
