Hi ladies,

Background: 27, TTC since March, amenorrhea for 4 months. Referred to a fertility clinic. Husband 27 with excellent sperm. Diagnosed with PCOS. 50 follicles detected, but no other symptoms. First round of provera and clomid 50mg did not result in ovulation. Currently on day 6 of provera to induce AF. Also had my first acupuncture treatment today (nothing to lose!).

My first round of clomid I didn't experience any symptoms which may coincide with the fact that it didn't work.

I'm posting for two reasons: some support (husband has been great but I need some womanly input) because I can't seem to think of anything else, and any tips you may have. All of my friends got pregnant pretty much within the first 3 months, so I'm feeling frustrated and alone.

Thanks for anything you can provide :)

Sorry you feel that way :/
I also have pcos, amenorrhea, I have one clomid baby, and I'm trying for another now! I never had any side effects on clomid either though so don't think that's indicative of it working.
Good Luck xx

I'm sorry you are feeling so frustrated. You are not alone though!

I was the same age as you when we started TTC, have the same PCOS symptoms (or lack of!) and also didn't ovulate on 50mg Clomid. You probably didn't experience any symptoms because it was such a low dose. Is your specialist increasing your dose for this cycle?

Yes, this cycle is going to be 100mg. I'm not sure how high the dose can get, does anyone know the max of clomid that they'll give a woman?

I am on my second cycle of clomid. The first cycle (50 mg) I had one 10 mm folicle on CD12 but no O. This cycle my Dr upped me to 100 mg and today (CD 12) I had 2 follicles, one 15 mm and one 23 mm! So we'll see if I actually O, but I'm optimistic that 100 mg will be enough to do the trick. My Dr said we could go to 150 mg in the future but he doesn't like to go higher than that.

Good luck!

My doctor doesn't go higher than 150mg either, but I have heard of some doctors going up to 200mg. The benefits of anything higher than 150mg are supposed to be negated by the thinning effect that it has on your lining.

Hi!

We've been TTC for the past 2 years and I was diagnosed with PCOS this Feb. First month of my Clomid cycle, the pharmacy made a mistake and I was told to take 200 mg and this month when I went to pick up my prescription and it was only 100 mg that set off a red flag. Long story short I am taking 100 mg this cycle but no side effects where as when I was taking 200 mg I was going crazy from all the side effects. Don't worry it'll happen when its time and trust me I know how hard it is seeing other people around you getting pregnant. You can always talk to us, we're all here for each other.

Glad you got it sorted....I knew starting at 200 was crazy!!

The absolute maximum dose is either 200 or 250, but most doctors won't go higher than 150.

Thank you, I know I'm glad I came on here otherwise I would of never suspected it was too much. How have you been?

Good...slowly waiting for o!! I've tried everything and can't seem to pinpoint it grrr so never know how many dpo/ days to ov I am! I think maybe yesterday's opk may have been my positive but I really hate opks!

I'm glad everything's OK, the waiting is horrible. I use to hate them but I started using them last month and I just feel that it wasn't accurate maybe I missed it or I've heard people with PCOS have a harder time with them. I do my last Clomid pill tomorrow so we shall see if something happens this month.

I'm *hoping* I'm in my tww from clomid round 1! Are you having a blood test to confirm ov? I'm having mine on Saturday which will be cd22. Once I get my results I feel like that'll be a load off I'm looking forward to the tww to take the stress off bding!!

Thanks everyone for sharing.
I thought that OPKs weren't very reliable with pcos, so I'm charting (which obviously showed nothing the first round since I didn't O). They are doing a blood test on D24.
I find the waiting is the hardest part, plus the fact that even when I don't O they make me wait until D34, take a blod test to confirm I'm not pregnant, and then I have to go on 10 days of Provera to induce AF. So a 'cycle' ends up being close to 2 months!
Anyhoo ill try to stay positive and hopefully this round at least I O.
Thanks again ladies!

It's so comforting to read that others are in a similar place! I really hate the waiting. I think I posted to this thread earlier, but I'm on my second round (100 mg) CD 13 today.

I was really optimistic yesterday after seeing two good folicles (one was 23 mm), but I still haven't gotten a positive OPK and there doesn't seem to be any pattern with my temps. The dr said the 23 mm folicle looked like it could possibly have just released, and I have felt some twinges, but I kinda doubt that I O'd that early w/o a positive OPK or temp spike.

I guess we'll see. I'm also neverous because last month I has a 10 mm folicle, but it seemed to disappear and I didn't O. So now I'm just driving myself crazy noticing every little twinge. We will keep BDing for now and then I'll go in to check progesterone levels next week.

Good luck to all of you!

Alicia, did AF come yet?

I know...most people hate the TWW, for me it'll be a relief to know I've done everything I can and then I can just relax until testing time!!

Kepper, I'm still on the progesterone, 1 day left to take it so AF will probably come next week around Halloween.

Thankful for the support and knowing that other ladies are going through the same thing :)

Good luck to everyone!

Well, CD15 for me and still no +OPK. I had been feeling some cramping earlier in the week but that seems to be going away.

Does anyone know how likely it is to have a good follicle response on clomid but still not O? Will going up to 150mg next round help?

Ugh. really hoping now that I just missed my surge. It seems like forever to have to wait until next week for blood work. I wish I could at least have a real TWW to wait through...
