Hi my name is Emilia. my husband and I have been trying for a baby for 4 years and it just isn't happening. I was diagnosed with pcos bout 2 years ago. we tried 3 rounds of clomid (a higher dosage each time) and nothing worked. I have done what my doctor told me to do to get the pcos under control ive lost 23lbs, I eat healthier, I exercise, I quit smoking cigs. idk what else to do so my question here today is:

has anyone with/without pcos has taken any herbal remedies in order to conceive and if so what did u take, how long did it take to work, please on info is helpful

I have pcos. I was diagnosed in about 2007. Last yr I did 2 rounds of clomid & got my bfp but miscarried. I am now taking 270 mg vitex and am ovulating & that is something I haven't don't without the help of clomid in a very long time... I am also having a period every month & I would go years without having one...

im sorry for ur lose...how long have u been taking the vitex for and how long after u started taking it before it started working. ive been taking 400mg for almost 2 months(started taking them 4/2/14)...im not sure if its working though its normal for me to go months at a time without an af and normally when I get af its heavy but when I finally got it it was weird I spotted for a week then it got heavier for 2 days then went back to spotting for another few days...I hope its the vitex working I would love to have a baby

cupcake - Hiii, hope your keeping well. Yes PCOS one of the annoying thing some of have! I have PCOS and went to the doctors so many times. My periods dont come, I hardly bleed. the doctors said to lose weight, eat healthy etc. the things you have done. The doctors mind you did give me Metformin pills and said apparently its good for those with PCOS. Anyhow time was passing and I was not getting pregnant, it got nearly 5 years and I just had enough with the doctors so I said to them that they must refer me to a specialist since they obviously cant help me!

I would suggest speak to your doctor and if they are no good, tell them you want to be referred because the doctor cant do half as much as the specialist/gynecologist.

Once I was refereed, after many tests they found that obviously I have PCOS and one of my tube is slightly blocked (not something a doctor could tell), the only was for me to get pregnant is through IVF which I have just done 2nd round of.

Definitely bug the doctor! and hopefully something works for you. :) x

Thank u and I will ask my obgyn about metformin but I can't see a fertility doctor I don't have the money for them

Cupcake - oh sorry I didn't realise you have to pay. Here in UK they usually just refer you and then the gyn deals with it. Yeah do ask about the metformin, I really hope something comes up for you. Stay strong. X

I have been on vitex for about 3 cycles, I am almost done with my second bottle. I hadn't ovulated in 2 cycles (last clomid & then the first cycle off clomid) when I started taking vitex & I ovulated the first month I took it.. My cycles r still a little long sometimes it ranges from 28-39 days, but I'm having a cycle and ovulating both so I'm excited by that

U might need to up your dose I see some people taking 1000+ mg of it... I started out taking 180 mg and was having a cycle but it was a little long so I upped my dose

I take 800mg a day for almost 2 months and starting 6/2/14 im gonna be taking a total of 1200 a day...on my bottle it says to take 2-3 tablets daily for 8-12 weeks then start taking 1 tablet a day so I figured after taking 2 tablets a day for 2 months it will be good enough in my system for me to take 3 tablets a day for a month then go to 1 tablet a day....last month I had a period for a week and a half but it was a unnormal one I spotted for 5 days then got it all the way for 2 days then started spotting again. for the rest of the time my obgyn says tht its normal its part of having irregular periods so im hoping thts the vitex working :)

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19. I was having 1-2 periods per year that would be severely heavy and lasted 3-4 weeks. I was put on birth control pills to keep the symptoms in check. I took Clomid in 2012 to no avail. My OB/GYN has a midwife in his clinic and she suggested Maca Root. I started taking it around January and had a period. I was shocked. I started Clomid again in February and it is now working. Maca Root works for a lot of her patients and it worked for me.

You should also talk to your doctor about Femara (Letrozole). It works the same as Clomid but has better responses with PCOS women. PCOS can cause Clomid resistance. Does your OB do IUI's in office? I do my IUI's with my OB/GYN.

I hope you can find something to help. I haven't been trying as long as you but understand the frustration PCOS brings to TTC. :hugs:
