Well the last time I spoke to you girls I was overdue and going for a scan to check everything was still ok. I went for the scan and they said they could see no water at all around my baby and I will be induced the next day. I went home and about an hour later I felt my first strong contraction, twenty minutes later I felt another, I thought it was just the way I was sitting causing the baby to put pressure on me. Then they started coming every five minutes, I got up and walked about and they didn't ease at all. Anyway having had two other children already I thought that labour could be very fast for me so I went home, made my partner some food and went up to central delivery suite. When I got there the contractions kept coming, they eventually checked me and I was 4cm dilated, the doctors fitted me with a vent in my hand to put drips in and and epidural line in my back incase of emergency (I had nothing going into the line they just put it in because I had complications in my last birth).
Before they put the line in my back I tried to stay as active as possible, bouncing on my ball and walking up the corridors etc... midwife checked me again and said I was 5-6 cm now, they put the line in and I was stuck in bed, then another doctor came in and examined me and said I was only 4cm - that was very disheartening.
Anyway after 11 hours of not getting anywhere on my own they gave me a drip to speed up contractions, they kept checking me and I stayed at 4cm the whole time, then I said, my baby is coming now and they said no she isnt you are only at 4cm, I said 'Yes she is!' they said no she isn't just wait its just pressure you're feeling, I begged them to check and eventually they did, my oh said he saw them all look at each other in amazement and then they told me she was infact coming (I KNOW THAT!!! I thought). 6 minutes later she was born, they gave me an injection for placenta and 6 minutes later placenta was out and in tact. I didn't tear at all not even a tiny bit, I only lost a tiny bit of blood and Katie Rose was finally here at 8lb 10oz.
