Hello,
I am new to this, so please forgive my lack of acronym knowledge.
Have been TTC unsuccessfully for years. Convinced my husband we needed to get to bottom of it. Went to RE. Found the problem. He has large varicocele, which we had surgery to repair yesterday.
Also found I have a polyp on cervix, hose to remove out of precaution as I was told that it coukd increase therisk of miscarriage.
I went in today, and was told that I was one of the unlucky 1% that had her uterus perforated during the start of the procedure. She blamed a tight cervical opening. Went in laproscopically and determined there was nodamage to bladder, bowels, etc.
The polyp was not removed, and now I have to get the procedure again!

I am supposed to make an appointment to discuss in one week, but want to seek advice, experience, etc so that I can go in with knowledge and questions.

Has anyone had this happen? Did it cause issues with pregnancy in the future? (Unfortunately google is my middle name and i am seeing the words uterine rupture everywhere)
If this happened to me once, is the risk higher for me that it will happen again?
Is leaving the polyp tooo dangerous?
Does the fact that my period is supposed to start tomorrow have any impact on my cervical opening? I ask because I am seeing everywhere that 1 week after period is standard, and I am concerned that this was grossly overlooked.
Any answers, additional questions i should ask, etc would be so appreciated!
Thank yo

Hello,

I'm so sorry that you had such a bad experience. I did not have a perforation when I had my polyps removed, but can offer some insight into my experience.

My Dr. used a Myosure instrument (hysteroscope) which I was told is the best technology out there because it doesn't burn or have the chance of removing too much tissue and can preserve the endometrium. It also removes all of the tissue so there is less chance of debris blocking a tube. Here is the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXfgeqacJy0 This seemed like a neat system and I was very comfortable with the idea. At the time of my procedure I was still in the middle of AF, but my doctor said it wasn't an issue for him. (Some doctors won't because it can make it hard to see with other procedures) He also used a medication to help dilate my cervix to accommodate the scope.
