period despite breastfeeding??

I know this probably belongs in the breastfeeding forum but I figured I might have better luck here.

My lo is 9 months old and I still breastfeed him a lot. He eats solids twice a day but is still nursed before each feed. At night he can go up to 5 hours without a feed but lately eats every 3 hours during the night. That all being said...I noticed light pinkish spotting when I went to the loo earlier. Could this possibly be my period??

Possibly - breastfeeding doesn't guarantee no period. I know a lot of women who have gotten pregnant while breastfeeding, and some that breastfed during their entire 2nd pregnancy.

It's possibly a period. I had one period while BFing and got pregnant while BFing

From what I've ready your period can pretty much return any time, even if ebf (though it's obviously less common if you ebf). It depends on the woman.

Yep, it could well be. According to Kellymom here, when practising ecological breastfeeding, 7% get their period back by 6 months, and a further 37% between 6 and 12 months.

Thanks everyone. I just started bleeding so yes, it does appear to be my period I am on holidays, I caught a bad cold yesterday and now I'm having my period-what great timing! Guess it had to come back at some point ...

Apparently I'm in the 7%! How unlucky. I got my period back 3 months pp, that was while EBF every 1-2 hours. It comes every month so wasn't just a sporadic thing that happened. I thought I'd be lucky and not have a period for a couple of years!

I'm one of the unlucky 7% and also got my period at 3 months pp! I couldn't believe it. But it wasn't every month thankfully. But now I'm pregnant again, so I'll be period free for another year or so, woohoo!

Another unlucky one - i was ebfing every three hours and mine returned after 3 months too with a regular cycle to boot. I bled for 10 weeks post partum too, so i felt like i never got a proper break (apart from during pregnancy of course!). you've been lucky with a 9 month break!

I'm an unlucky one as well I'm EBF and got mine back 7 weeks pp! Then got another 10 days later. I feel like I've been bleeding since her birth! Lol

I EBF Maddox from day one--I never supplemented and let him nurse on demand--and my period returned at six weeks. It's been on a regular 31 day cycle ever since. Some people are just unlucky, I guess.

Mine returned today. My LO will be 5 months next Friday. We'll see if this is a regular thing or not.

Mine returned on Thursday- exactly 10 weeks pp . With my 1st LO I got it back at 6 weeks pp. I feel cheated
