Petplan are ace, and if you do it through your vets you should be able to get a couple of weeks at least free, or 10% off if you do it online :D

thats who I was going to say. Dog insurance is well expensive.

More than.

Our Dog is epileptic and a flight risk so we need good cover for him. I was originally with M&S but the renewal was extortionate!

We have zero excess and it's £15 a month for him. Would recommend you look at them. Also Direct line are meant to be quite good.

Wow! That cheap?? Our dog is epileptic too (I've never met anyone else with an epileptic dog before) and cover has always been a bugger for us!!

i think its gunna be expencive because he is a big dog... i just darent put hes a lurcher and a collie coz itl shoot up.

Personally I'd put "Mongrel" to see what the prices came out as... you could always feign ignorance and say you had no idea what cross he is

i just put crossbreed on all of them and they were still expencive argos giving me a good deal atm.. just see what a few more come back with then ill decide

you cant mistake the 3 dogs in him the face is a staffy, the body is a lurcher and the colour and temnprement is a collie

I know that petplan is expensive (I'm almost £100 a month for both our dogs and both our cats) BUT, unlike places like Tesco, Argos etc, they are covered for life. This means that they cover a condition for the life of the pet, rather than just for a year (as many places do). My older dog has incontinence problems and is now on medication for life and the insurance will cover it (bar the excess each year). TBH I've always seen the higher premiums as worth it because as the animal gets older they will cost a lot more in conditions such as arthritis etc (petplan covers acupuncture etc as well).

with tesco i have 4000 per condition for life.. argos its 7000 per condition for life..

That can easily run out - In the last five years, on just blood tests and medication for my dog we've spend in excess of £9k... just to put it into perspective.

Ultimately the choice is yours, and who's to say you'll ever need to rely on the insurance for conditions etc... I know that until ours got ill, we just paid a £7 a month insurance for him, and it did us just fine :D

We were with marks and spencers but it was bloody pricey and when it came to renewing it jumped up even more! Our vet recommended them as they do cover for life, regardless of how long the pet has the condition for, however we did our research and we're now with More Than, the cover is the same, in fact better and rather than paying £25 per month for fudge (our 3 year old springer spaniel) we're playing £12.78 per month :happydance: Wahoo!

We're with petplan at the mo @ £27 per month for a 2 year old beagle!!

Last week whilst I was renewing the car insurance though, I priced him on directline insurnace and he was coming up at £13 per month!! Thats over half price :)

We bend the truth a little. The vet has never actually had to treat his epilepsy....we home medicate with camomile to calm him. Luckily his fits are mild (he never loses consciousness at the moment) but they will get worse with age (he's about 5-6 - a rescue so we're not sure). We don't put that he is epileptic on the forms and the vet has not put it on his official records (we get on very well with his vet). I know we're lucky but as soon as it requires medication it wont affect the premium much as I always try it with to see how much it will be if his condition worsens - (he's also only a small dog so that helps).

Epilepsy in dogs is more common than you think. A lot of people don't know it happens to their dogs as they can recover so quickly from it, and it often happens while the dog is stressed so if the owner is out etc. I did a lot of research when we got Dylan just after he had his first fit and it's actually rising due to the breeding problems etc but isn't recognised as a 'condition' by a lot of vets. Only certain breeds are recognised as having it....mainly boxers and giant breeds.....very rare to find a fox terrier with it.

just been told £18.16 is the cheepest wel get as he is the 3 toughest dogs in one plus hes still a puppy.. itlo go down to £14 next year tho...
