Hi all
I am more in the NTNP boat. I do keep track of my cycle days/length and I also monitor my CM, but that's it. I am 32 and have been off the BCP for almost 2 years.
This cycle I am experiencing things I haven't before and am hoping to hear from anyone that has experienced anything similar.
My cycle length varies from 22 - 26 days. Most often it is 22 days. I am currently on CD30. About 5 days before AF is due, I spot for a day. This happens every time. I spotted on CD21, so I knew I should expect AF on CD26. On CD27 I started to spot, but it was so scant that I only saw it when I wiped. It had stopped by lunch time on CD28 and I had creamy white CM again by the end of CD28 and it has been that way since. AF for me is spotting for a few hours at most, then is light/medium for the rest of the day, followed by medium/heavy flow for a few days and then spotting for a day or so. All up from first to last spot, it goes for around 5-6 days.
If I was going purely off the expected length of my cycle and the consistency of my CM, I would say I ovulated around CD10-12. My OH and I had sex on CD8 (approx. 3 weeks ago). We then visited family for 2 weeks over Christmas and had to share a room with other family, so did not DTD again until we got home on CD23 (1 week ago). When we DTD on CD23 my OH commented on my breasts feeling heavy and like hot water bottles. I had noticed it too, they had been that way since about CD20 and were also tender on the underside of the insides of my breasts (bottom of my cleavage I guess). The tenderness and warmth were gone by CD25.
My first thought after the spotting finished was that I might be pregnant. If I was it would been from DTD 3 weeks ago. Going by that date, implantation would have occurred at the latest by CD24 (taking into account that OH sperm survived 4-5 days before fertilization and that implantation then took 12 days). I did a FR HPT yesterday morning and it came back negative. That was 5 days after the maximum time allowed for sperm survival + implantation time. I have virtually no other symptoms to speak of, except the breast warmth and tenderness I mentioned above and for the last few days (from the day I starting spotting) I've had occasional little cramps and minor lower back ache (I would say much milder than AF cramps and aches).
If I ovulated really late and we caught the egg after DTD on CD23, it is not possible for implantation to have occurred in time to prevent AF (that would make it 3-4 days from DTD to implantation)!
So I guess my question is, has anyone had very light spotting instead of AF (late or on time), and did they eventually get a BFP or was it just an odd cycle? I am not sure if I should count the spotting as AF, it was more like pink/light brown tinged CM. I've had a light period only once before in my life, it lasted 3 days and was a light flow, just enough for a tampon but it was definitely a period like flow.
I hope that all makes sense!
