Hi Ladies :)

So, I'll try and keep this short. With both my children I have had 3rd degree tears. The first was a long recovery time than the second, but both just as painful. My chances of tearing again are quite high. So I've been thinking of discussing a C-Section with my consultant.

I only know two people personally that have had C-Sections, and they have both been emergency ones, and not been nice to hear about.
I really don't think I could go through with another tear again. I struggle to hold myself if I need the toilet now LOL.

So, anyone who has a positive, planned Section story, please share.

My other 3 PCS were smooth sailing. Just got to do what you can when you can. And phase in housework. I got so good at doing the light stuff by the time I got to my 6 week post op appointment I was doing what I normally did. And they all were good births and pregnancies. Hopefully yours will be too.

My c section was not planned and came after two tough days of induced labour, but the c section part was not bad.

I admit I didn't like being really drugged up, to the point where when they showed me my baby it hardly registered and my hubby was afraid I didn't care. This did not last for long, however.

They moved me into recovery and plopped my baby on me. She very eagerly latched onto my breast and started sucking. At this point I had my wits about me and I was so overwhelmed!

Recovery has not been too bad (I have birth 5 weeks ago). Everything after the c section when about as well as it possibly could have

We did a planned one, at not quite thirty-eight weeks, due to vasa previa.

I had a very positive experience. Being in the operating room was a little annoying...bright lights and all...but my team was terrific, and physically, I found it very low stress. They gave me a spinal, and my husband and the anesthesiologist stood by and monitored me through the whole thing. It took a while to get my legs back, and there was a little pulling pain on the stitches for a week or so, but I healed really rapidly.

I know some people have more pain, but frankly, compared to a bad tear, I don't see a down side.

I had emergency section after going through full labour - left me feeling deflated. My next pregnancy I had planned section. I went into hospital at 7 am and baby was here by half nine. I was in shower at 4pm that day with a little assistance from nurse and was able to be on my feet that night. I had morphine to ease the pain but came off the drip the next morning. I left the hospital on the Friday morning so only two days after op.

It all went smoothly and the staff were fantastic. Planned section obviously was preferable to emergency but I healed far quicker that time and had no problems with my scar which healed well with no infection or pain, which I had with the emergency section.

I had a "emergency" c-section with my dd in Oct '08' . I don't really consider it an emergency but thats what they called it...she was breech and wiggling her little butt to far into the birth canal and since I wasn't sure if I could even do a natural labor(had hip surgery very young) and neither me or the doctor wanted to try to turn her I had a section that night at 37 weeks 4 days. I have had ma jor and minor surgeries before so wasnt nervous about the surgery or anything. I was up and out of bed walking the floor with my dd about 12 hrs later. Probably would have been sooner but I had her at almost 11 at night so just slept it off lol. I had her Sun. night staples came out Weds. morning and that afternoon I was home. Honestly to me it was one of the simplest surgeries had. Even though I had wanted to try and do natural if the docs want my next one (whenever that is) to be a section I wouldnt think twice about it.

I've had 2 x csections. One emergency and on due to failed induction. I found both experiences absolutely fine and have had no problem at all with recovery. I had LO on the 6th April and already feel very well in myself. I'm no longer aching (although still making sure I take it easy). Xx

I had a 'semi-emergency' c-section for my breech baby (my waters went so he had to come out but it wasn't an immediate life or death scenario).

My recovery went really well. Don't get me wrong, it is major surgery so the first few days are sore and painful when the painkillers begin to wear off, but overall, it went so 'well' I have opted for an elective this time around.

I had him around 11pm at night, and was carefully walking around the next morning. Showered the next afternoon I think, back exercising gently 4 weeks later.

Scar is minimal 5 years on, but I do still have some numbness where the nerves were severed.

xx
