Hi,

Our LO was on Lactose Free formula for the first 3 months but for the past week I have been gradually introducing Hipp Organic standard formula (1 bottle per day, then 2 bottles per day etc), on the advise of my HV.

She is getting on fine with it, and it seems her lactose intolerance is no longer an issue, however, I am concerned that her poos are changing. They used to be pretty loose (and messy!) but for the past 2 days they have been like playdoh (a solid squishy lump that rolls around her nappy!) - sorry TMI :)

Is that normal with a formula change, or is it normal anyway as she gets a bit older?

I wouldnt think that is normal for a baby simply on milk.....my LOs turned like that when we started weaning with solids, but not sure in your case.....:flower:

hmm....She has been having Infant Gaviscon twice a day too as she suffers with reflux so maybe the combination of a change in formula AND the gaviscon (which thickens the contents of the stomach to help stop regurgitation) may have caused the change?

Hi, My baby is on gaviscon for reflux too and this is exactly what her poo is like. Health visitors said it was normal. At least it makes nappy changes easier!

my boys poop was like that when I was giving him gaviscon but as soon as the gaviscon stopped his poops returned to normal. I was advised by my h/v to offer small amounts of water.

I agree with gaviscon its normal. Even wthout gaviscon many babies of this age start having a lot thicker poo, its their digestive system maturing xx

Thanks everyone!
We actually ran out of gaviscon yesterday and today her poos have been back to normal (meaning messy unfortunately!) At least that confirms it was the gaviscon :)

Well if that's what gaviscon does to their poos, I think I need to get me some :haha: Harrison had poo explosions 3 times yesterday and all of them leaked :/ I'm so glad days like that are very rare lol

XxX
