not only am i having problems with my little one be unsettled during and after feeds its taking me 1.5-2 hours to feed him 5oz :hissy: he falls asleep during every feed even if he's just woken from a good hours sleep, any advice how i can keep him awake ive tried everything possible, changed to new bottles also with faster teats, its getting to the point where im crying when he's due his feed! any advice would be really appreciated xx

Betty is a grazer too. It can be hard at times, especially when I am trying to get things done, but that's just how she eats. It can't last forever. :hugs: It will get better.

Which teats and which formula hun?

Which teats and which formula hun?

ive had him on avent teat 1,2 and 3 but now changed to closer to nature bottles with teat 2 as he was just chomping the avent ones, he's currently on cow and gate stage1, tried hungrier babe as he was showing he was hungry all time but that made hime very sick, and since ive moved to closer to nature bottles he become very windy and his colic has come back and he's only pooping every 2 days now but straining loads so tried the cow and gate comfort and he screamed the place down and refused to drink it, ive spent fortunes on trying different things
hope all this makes sense lol x

When he starts to fall asleep put him on a cold surface like leather sofa, or changing mat, or tickle feet, this is a trigger they use in hospital sometimes.

ive tried all of this, nothing works, just hope the HV can give me some advice tomorrow! thanks x

Alternatively how about just giving him double the amount of bottles but in 3oz portions, maybe his belly fills really easily.

This might be a bit controvertial, but my friends LO had a similar problem with constantly needing fed and then fussing and falling asleep after about 5 minutes! She tried giving him a dummy if he was still "hungry" shortly after a feed and it resulted in him falling asleep. Could he just be a "sucky" baby? How does he sleep? He might just be acting hungry/sucky in order to get himself to sleep. My friends wee boy started feeding a lot better when he was taking better naps, and waking up properly hungry. Sorry if this seems way off, but thought it could be another possibility as you seem to have tried it all! I hope it all settles down soon for you. Good Luck!

My son doesn't poop for days either unless we help him out, we also tried C&G Comfort, it made Theo vomit.

I agree with Redz...I've read that some babies like to suckle something in order to get to sleep, could it be that he just wants something to suck on...I alwas fed Theo when he was tired, I didn't wana give him a dummy, but in the end I did, he just wanted to settle himself off to sleep by sucking xx

Have you given soy formula a go? He sounds just like my boy was when he was on milk formulas

I agree with the dummy thing...
It took us ages to figure out that Violet just wanted something to suck on whilst she fell to sleep. We went through it all, thinking she was still hungry, thinking she had wind etc etc but it turns out she was just after either comfort sucking or sucking to fall asleep.

Have you tried just giving him as much as he'll take before falling asleep and then taking away the bottle and just letting him wake up by himself and giving him some more..? I don't know what else to suggest hun, Violet takes 4-5oz and by time she's finished she's more or less flat out (but lets us know that she's had enough milk).

Hope you get some good advice from your HV xx

HV advised me to stretch him out 4 hours between feeds, didnt work at first but now he's upped his feeds to 6-7oz and takes 30-40min which is great x she also said the same about the dummy so he has that more now too! thanks guys
