Hi ladies my 15 month old started vomiting yesterday afternoon. It went on for 5 hours but she still seemed happy enough. No temperature or runny nappys.

Today she has been ok. She had dry cereal and a plain biscuit this morning. As she was great at lunch she had a small cheese spread sandwich. Then for tea plain pasta and another biscuit. She went to bed as normal and then 26 hours later (half hour ago) i heard her cry so went to check on her and her bed was covered in vomit.

Is this pretty standard for a one year old?

Also do you always catch sickness bugs. I caught one of her two months ago and im honestly dreading it. I cant be ill with a toddler to chase.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated

Sounds like a bug. Or maybe something she's eating is upsetting her tummy? Seems odd to have such a long period in between sickness. Long as she's getting enough fluids though she should be fine. Just keep an eye on her and her nappies to make sure they are nice and wet.

There's no way to to totally avoid catching a bug if it's in your house bar good hand washing and cleaning anything she's eaten or drunk for separately, that should minimise the chance of you catching it. Really hope she feels better soon!

She may have eaten too much too soon and threw up again. Check out the BRAT diet. They say give Banana, rice, applesauce, or toast because it's easy on the stomach.

I agree she may just have eaten a little too much. I always give toast after illness, my mum used to do it for me so carrying on the tradition!! I have been lucky so far and haven't caught any of the many bugs my toddler has had, I make sure I am cleaning constantly when he is unwell and wash my hands a lot!x

Sounds standard for a sickness bug. Every time Xander gets a bug he carries on vomiting in his bed long after he's recovered in the day.

He was hospitalised with the last one and the said to avoid dairy completely until he was better because it would make him vomit. I usually go with toast or bananas x

Thanks for your replies. She went to the drs after vomiting 3 more times that night. She then has had about 30 hours of being ok. Dry diet yesterday etc. i vomited once in the night & feel weak today. About two hours ago after a normal day of eating. Weetabix toast and dry snacks she just vomited again.

I feel so down. I am in bed. My partner has looked after her all day. The last few days have been hard. I dont feel like ive hugged her enough because im avoiding her vomiting on me. It has really made me feel helpless. Thanks again for your replies x
