Please help Im being a wimp

I posted yesterday about being 7 days late. i know you all told me to do a test but im being a real wimp.

The thing is i used ovulation strips as i usually ovulate around the 17 I started them on the 13 and finsihed them on the 19. Well nothing showed. I know i could have ovulated late or earlier but im panicking now that i havent ovulated and that is why the hasnt got me yet. I know im being silly and should just take the test ! Thing is im getting all aching and cramping and had it for the last couple of days plus lower back ache would i still get that if i hadnt ovulated.

I would do a test just to make sure and put your mind at rest. A week late is quite a lot for AF to be late by.

Do you normally have a regular cycle or have you had missed periods/very late periods before?

this is my 4 month and every one previous has been on the 30 day and also when i was on the pill it was the 30th day too.

Its 8 days today think while you dont know you still know theres a possibility.

Hi Katie,

I think it's very possibly you are pregnant. If you have regular cycles and are nearly 8 days late, then I would definately test. You said that you got negatives on your opks. Was it just that the lines were not getting as dark as the test line or did you not get any line at all? Some women never get lines as dark as the test line and still ovulate.

I used the clear blue one the one that gives you just a circle or aq smiley face. But no smiley face. I keep thinking maybe i didnt wee on the stick enough. Would that make a difference?

They are the ones that I use as well.

Not weeing enough on the stick could have had an effect. Also, if you pee on them after drinking a lot of water etc it could have had an effect as well.

I know that you are not supposed to do it with the CB digitals - but when you ejected the stick thing, did you look at the lines? Usually when I use them I base whether I was about to ovulate or not on the smiley face thing, but I still notice the line getting darker as well.

No I didnt look at them lines Is just so frustrating isnt it. I should stopping looking up things on the internet it just scares me.

I would have thought though if I didnt ovulate so not due a period surely i wouldnt be getting the tell tale period signs for days? What do you think poppy?

I would definately test - if you are pregnant, at over a week late, I reccon that if it was positive it would probably show on a pregnancy test. If you aren't pregnant, possibly anxiety due to ttc might have made you ovulate late and made your period late.

Also, if you go by the Clearblue reccomendations, they take your average cycle and get you to go to the middle of the cycle and start testing two days before (so, if you had a 28 day cycle, you would test on cd 12). However, some women, even if they have regular cycles, ovulate outside that range (i.e some ovulating on day 10/11 or CD 20 for example - by then your Clearblue 7 pack has run out!!!) So it's quite good to test over a few months to see if you can see a pattern.

Sorry for the long explanation!

If you are not pregnant this time (I think you probably are!), I would use opks for another few months to chart when you ovulate - especially if you are worried about not ovulating. Maybe buy some cheapies so you can test from about CD 8 onwards. If you find that you are not ovulating, you could go to GP about it.
