Hi

My husband and I have been trying for almost 2 years and been visiting an infertility clinic. We have both had tests done, and my husband got a letter yesterday telling us that there were no sperm in his sample... I am totally devasted! Now he has to go for chromosome and genetic tests which is freaking me out.... can anyone help? Does this mine we will be childless forever.... please ... any advice welcome...

I'm assuming there was total absence of sperm? Sometimes there are sperm produced but never "released"; so they may be in his reproductive organs but never in a sample of semen. Drs can surgically extract those very few sperm and in combination with an IVF cycle produce a pregnancy. I'm sure it's not cheap but worth consideration. There's also a condition where the semen doesn't follow the path it should out the penis but rather is forced back up into the bladder. That could be something else they can check for. It could also be something as simple as a blockage which needs to be corrected.

Frustrating as it is, at least you're on the right path - figuring out the problem so you can fix it. GL :)

I'm so sorry it wasn't better news hun... maybe there is something they can do though? Least you are getting help. Not that it makes it any less devastating, but there is just SO much they can do these days...

Wish I could offer more advise. Just wanted to send you some luck and best wishes!!! Hope they get to the bottom of what's going on soon and you get some good news!!

Fingers crossed! :flower:

Hi

So sorry to hear the news about your hubby's SA. There's a whole group of us dealing with this issue (azoospermia) and you will find a warm welcome and lots of info about our different journeys xx

Hi there...

Sorry to hear about the bad news; we have the same problem, and we are also in Scotland! Feel free to pm me, you might end up seeing the same urologist, as ours sees all the cases of azoospermia in the west of scotland.

And definately check out Deb's azoospermia thread, there are lots of us going through the same thing.

Good luck...

thanks for the replies... I've have been so upset all weekend, couldn't face coming on here. Feeling alittle better now though, just have to hope when we see the Infertility Dr in April that he can help... again, thanks for your replies. xxx
