A little about me: I have PCOS and I'm lucky to get 1-2 periods a year.

My LO is 8 weeks old and is exclusively breastfeeding with no supplements of formula or a dummy. I bled for 3 weeks after my son then had a day of pink spotting at 5 weeks and for the last 3 days, I've had more spotting (enough to mark a liner).

I was hoping to use ebf as my form of contraception and my OH and I have DTD with put using anything else. Is there a chance I am fertile?? I was under the impression EBF was 98% effective xx

I got my first period 3 months into ebf even though am also on the pill, so doubt it's effective contraception!

Erm... I dont think EBF is a reliable contraceptive. I got my first period back 3.5pp, and I had a friend (EBF too) who got pregnant 2 months after baby..

So who knows what nature decides to do eh...

Not effective! I ebf and just got my period Saturday 10 weeks after delivery :S Spread the word lol. My cousin got pregnant with her second 8 weeks after delivering her first.

To do LAM, you need to fulfil ALL of these:

baby under six months old
your periods have not returned
exclusively breastfeeding on demand, night and day, at least 6 good feeds with no more than a 4 hour gap.

Given all these, LAM is an effective method, but obviously, not many people fit all those criteria!

As you've had some bleeding, I'd not be confident to use it as contraceptive now.

My son does on advantage 6 hours on a night between feeds (he did 8hours last night) so I guess I need to use a backup method.
Thanks ladies xx
