please help, tax credits!! :(

I left my husband in september and went on income support and changed my address etc. I forgot to tell tax credits although its exactly the same amount i wouldve received as a single claim they say i owe over 1000 pounds and can only backdate this 'new' claim a month. Is there anything i can do?? Im so upset, i just found out im pregnant on saturday, really dont know how ill be able to pay it
