Hi all, we are expecting our second child in July. Our dd is called Verity, which we both love, traditional but fairly underused.
The names we have on our shortlist are

Girls-

Hattie
Bessie
Betsy
Felicity
Agetha
Cybil

Boys-

Monty
Herbie
Albert
Charlie
Noah
Arthur
Austin
Reuben

Surname begins with a m so unsure about Monty.

Opinions please! Xxx

I think Verity & Felicity would be a nice sister sib-set. Since they both have "virtuous" meanings (truth & happiness).

From your boy's list I like Noah, Austin, & Charlie best! (I think Charlie goes better with your daughter's name though.)

Would these be the full name that's put on the birth certificate or would they be called Harriet but known as Hattie, for example?
If these would be the full name then from your girls list I'd go for Agetha. I love it! I like Bessie and Betsy too but would personally want to call LO Elizabeth so she had the choice of a more adult sounding name (although I think they are great names, I just know a couple of people with similar sort of names who don't like not having a more formal alternative).
Ilove your boys list! Herbie is just the cutest name- I'd use it in a heartbeat if my DH would let me, so I vote for that! Albert is a close second and Arthur is fab too. There is a little boy in my DS's gym class called Monty Monroe, I love it! He sounds like a comic book hero :haha:

Love it! I also love old traditional type names especially for girls!

I love the name Hattie. And from your boys list I adore Herbie and Albert!

My son Freddie's best little friend is called Bertie :D And my niece is called Hettie which is another old fashioned name that I love x

Felicity goes lovely with verity, from your boys list I love Albert and Arthur :)

Girls-

Hattie 1/10 - its a nickname not a name
Bessie 1/10 - same as above
Betsy 1/10 - same as above
Felicity 5/10 - feminine and classic
Agetha 4/10 - not my taste
Cybil 2/10 - sounds masculin to me

Boys-

Monty 1/10 - nickname-y again
Herbie 1/10 - same as above
Albert 3/10 - not my taste
Charlie 1/10 - nickame-y
Noah 2/10 - not my taste
Arthur 3/10 - not my taste
Austin 6/10 - I like this
Reuben 2/10 - not my taste

Felicity and Austin are by far the best in my opinion and both go beautifully with Verity and will age well and look proffesional

Herbie and Albert! I love these.

I think I like Hattie and Agatha best for girls.

I love Hattie (it CAN be a name - it's my best friends - yes she is called Harriet on her birth certificate but that is all - bank cards etc. are all Hattie).

For boys I think Arthur or Albert go best with Verity xx
