Hi
Im 18, currently at university and about to go back for spring term but have just found out im pregnant.
Me and my friends reckon its about 22/23 weeks though cos I missed a few periods but i had started training long distance running which i was told could effect my periods and i had just moved away from home to university and i thought maybe i was just worrying cos i didnt settle down very well. I havent time to go see the doctor though before I go back and i was wondering whether there was anyone in the hospital like family planning clinic in the city im at uni i could go to because im not registered at a doctors there.
I have decided to keep it but havent mentioned it to my parents but my boyfriend and i have been together 2 years and have known each other since we were 3, knows and will support me no matter what.
Also i wondered if anyone else knew of anyone who had been in my situation and wondered if they stayed on at uni cos i dont want to disappoint my parents cos they're rather old school and strict but i want to prove them wrong that i can cope being a mother and being at university.
Thanks

I'm from the US but i'm sure they would be a free clinic maybe somewhere around you, you could search it online? I know a lot of universities have on site day care which you could look up too. Did you tell your boyfriend yet? Also it might be a good idea to break the news to your parents as well, since you're already 23 weeks along. You never know, sometimes they surprise you and could be very supportive. Keep us posted hun!

I'm not sure, I'm also from US s can't tell you about the clinic.
Yuo obviously need to hurry up majorly since 22-23 weeks is quite an advanced gestational period.

I'm also in uni and have a 4 month old, it's a bit of a stuggle but managable.

Good luck! :hugs:

Try Family Planning Clinic, see if there is one near your uni. www.fpa.org.uk

If your keeping the baby you need to tell your parents, and the sooner the better as you will need emotional support if your continuing to go through uni

Good luck x

Well, I went to college pregnant. My semseter ended in December, and I didn't go back for this semester because I'm due before the end of it and would miss a lot due to appointments, my due date is right before exams, and I know I'd miss a lot before exams.. I didn't want to do all the work and then fail any of the classes? Not to mention it's stairs, stairs, stairs at my school, it's winter, etc.

I plan to go back no later than January 2010.

When you get back to uni make sure you get yourself registered at the doctors surgery attached to your uni ASAP.

Your uni doctors will be able to sort out your antenatal care for you (including booking you a scan to work out how far on you are) and will be able to write letters to your department if you have to miss time off because of the pregnancy so that it gets taken into consideration etc.

You will also need to let your department know that you are pregnant as they need to be aware for health and safety as well as for taking it into general consideration. This is even more important if you are doing a science degree that involves chemicals, fieldwork etc.

Your LEA will also take into account the fact you have a baby when it is born and as far as I recall they will give you money towards childcare.

Go and speak to your uni accomadation person as well as they will help you sort out accomadation for once the baby arrives.

Whereabouts in the UK are you at uni? What are you studying?
