Hey ladies hope we are all well? I'm quite upset actually, im a single mom to my 2 year old son , and I really want to go back to work but , do I put on my cv that I'm a single mom? That I can't be flexible and need set hours? No one wil give me a job then :( I'm also stuck as well as I don't have anyone to have my son while I go to interviews!! I only want to go back part time? Any advice plz? Xx

Maybe join an agency, you could bring your son and with some jobs you don't even need an interview, you can be taken on as a temp to be made permanent in some cases. :)

Won't that mess around with my benefits etc then tho? Thanks for you reply x

I think only if you do more than 16 hours a week it will affect them. :)

Would you not have a friend or family who could watch your LO if you had an interview? I definitely know it's hard to have someone look after a LO at short notice.

I'm not sure how working affects any benefits because I've been lucky enough that I could keep working. Just to let you know though if you work more than 16 hours you can then claim working tax credits and will get a percentage of your child care paid for - I can't remember the percentage off hand but it's quite high.

Good luck :flow: xx

You can work up to 16 hours and still receive some income support and still receive housing and concil tax benefit. Some nurseries and child minders offer a day rate which is handy if you want to go to interviews. You dont need to tell them you are a single parent and also you have legal rights to flexible working as a parent. I work 30 hours a week with 2 children as a single mummy. I requested flexible working hours so I could become part time and it was approved so many workers are willing and understanding of working mums.

Nope I hardley have any friends or family , willing to look after My son while I go to interviews , this is the problem :(
