Hi ladies,

Please ignore my last post...it was my first time trying to add a poll, and I messed it up

I was so certain for the couple of girls names we narrowed it down to, but we've struggled a bit with boys names. We found out yesterday that we are team blue, so I need some help :)

Our last name is very Scottish (MacD****ll) and I don't want a name that's too common, or too trendy or weird. I'm also hoping to throw a family link in there too, but that can be done with the MN. For the names below, we will use the shortened version where applicable for everyday use.

Please rate and give your opinions on these names:

William or Willem (Will) - my grandpa's name
Charles (Charlie)
Max (no longer version, as it would clash with our surname)
Samuel (Sam)
Wiley (or spelled Wylie...) - is Scottish (honouring DHs family) variation of my grandpa's name, but is it cute or just weird?? Does it remind you too much of the coyote from Looney Tunes?

Thanks!

I love both Sam & Charlie - but voted for Charlie (bc i prefer Charles, rather than Samuel). I personally would just put Sam or Charlie on the birth certificate, but that's just me.

I think they both go with William as the MN, to honor your grandfather!

Samuel William
Charles William

Both very nice, strong, masculine (not too popular) names... with a special family connection!

Wiley is def too Loony Toons, in my honest opinion! Sorry!

William, Samuel and Charles are all great names. Wyley etc is just too out there for my liking.

DH loves Charlie, but not Charles...so we might end up with Charlie right in the birth certificate, but I like the idea of Charles as his full formal name in case he wants to use that when he's older for,his career, etc.

I like Charles William, but it really makes me think of British royalty...maybe a bit too much.

Thanks for your thoughts so far, ladies! Keep it coming!!

I prefer Willem over William, but that's just me. Charlie is incredibly cute, but you never know if he'll grow up to want to be a Charles. If I were to use it, I would put Charles on the birth certificate so he can have a choice. Same thing for Sam/Samuel.

I really like Max as a standalone name.

I didn't think of the coyote when I read Wiley/Wylie until you mentioned it lol I MIGHT be alone in that! I actually think that it's absolutely, but it's WAY different than all your other names. I prefer the Wiley spelling too. Wylie seems feminine to me.

I think my favorites have to be Charles/Charlie and Willem/Will. They're very strong names that are popular but don't feel overused. Classic names. My least favorite is Wiley/Wylie, but that's mostly because I don't think it fits well with your surname. I voted for Willem though, lol.

I know William will likely be the popular/traditional choice. I prefer Samuel. =)

Well I voted William but don't like Will. I also love Samuel and Wylie has totally grown on me.

Out of all of them I prefer Charlie as a name in its own right. I really don't like the name Charles though so I voted Samuel.

Giving this a little bump, because we still have no idea what to call our baby boy! Hoping for more opinions :)

ETA - MN will likely be James (DH's name, his father's name, and my father's name!)

I voted Max, but also really like Samuel/Sam.

I love William! It's one of my favourite boys names :)
