Went to the psychologist today and he diagnosed me with PND. He gave me prozac and wants to see me in 2 weeks...and also told me to go to a psychotherapist every week for awhile, so I start that on Friday. Sure hope it helps, though, I think I've been feeling better for a few days...apparently that doesn't matter :dohh:. Oh well...I guess it's a good thing to go.

Hi

I was diagnosed with PND 6 weeks after the birth of my daughter Kate in April. I too was prescribed prozac and have been taking it for the last month or so. It takes a while to feel totally at ease but beleive me the medication does work and i am feeling much much better already. My baby is just over 3 months old now and i am coping very well. And you will too. What type of symtoms were you experiencing? I was loosing sleep and feeling panic and anxieity and fear constantly. I didn't have any bonding issues with my little girl thankfully but that too is a common feeling. The hardest thing we will ever do is have a baby and we need to give ourselves the time to heal both physically and mentally (its just the mentally part that take a bit longer). Dont' beat yourself up about it - you have done the best thing by presenting yourself to a doctor.

I wish you well

Hope you start to feel better really soon :hugs: It's great that you realised something wasn't right and saw someone about it...don't forget that it can take a few weeks for meds to properly kick in and start working properly so don't worry if you're still not feeling yourself for a couple of weeks - I'm sure it won't take long :hugs:

:hugs: I was told I have PND not long ago now, I was feeling so awful, really low and having really bad panic attacks, i just didn't feel myself at all.. i feel fine now, i dont know if my hormones settled down or whether the tablets starting working but im feeling back to my old self and i never would have believed it a month ago.. things will get better for you, just take your time and take each day as it comes.. you might have good days and bad days, eventually there will be more good days, then you'll eventually forget you ever had bad days...

i got very ill after i had my baby, and i think i remember that you did too.. i spent the first few weeks of his life away from him ill in hospital and i felt awful, i was missing out on what was meant to be a very happy time in my life, i was meant to be at home with my husband, enjoying our new little baby son but instead i was in a horrible hospital room on my own.. i think thats when i started to feel depressed..

anyway i just wanted you to know i feel fine now.. not even a hint of depression!!

you'll be feeling back to normal soon too... lots of hugs for you :hugs:

Oh hun you haven't had a very easy time at all have you? I really hope you start to feel better soon!
