Hi ladies,

Well I normally post on TTC but I thought I'd post here as I'm after some advice.

Quick run down, I've been TTC for 7 cycles now following mc in June of this year. I have PCOS but usually (recently anyway) have pretty regular cycles. My GP did CD21 tests about 3-4 months ago which confirmed I ovulated (that month at least). As I have PCOS OH haven't been using contraception for the past 3 years, although my cycle hasn't been regular for all of that time and therefore my GP agreed that if I wasn't pregnant by March next year we could try Clomid (this was after the CD 21 tests).

Anyway reason for this post (before I start rambling to much lol!) is that this cycle has been 39 days long (:witch: finally made an appearance today - my cycle is usually 29-30 days) and so I intend to go back to my GP in the new year to see what can be done. Should I just go in and ask right out for Clomid to be prescribed, or are there other things which I could try first? I've heard Metformin can be prescribed but I'm not sure and I'm alos not sure what my other options might be given that I'm still at a relatively early stage of TTC.

Any advice that anyone can give me on possible options or tests I could get done would be great, I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow for straight after new year.

Thanks

Hi Claire. I have PCOS too.
I was put on Metformin and Clomid as soon as I was diagnosed. But didn't stick to the Metformin as it may my cycles go haywire, I think one was 60 something days! But the clomid had a zig zag affect, sometimes it caused me to O sometimes it didn't. I have to have a very high dose for it to show any signs of working.

There are some valuable books and information on the net about PCOS. Even good eating plans to help your body function better with it also.

I always have a pretty regular period too, but since seeing a gyno and getting all these meds, it's not so accurate anymore. If you have concerns I would definately go speak to your GP again.

Lots of luck

I have PCOS. I was given Metformin first because I didn't ovulate, but after 5 months found it was making me really ill, so I'm now on Clomid. I think in the UK, that's the way most docs will go.. and Met has a good success rate. Good Luck hun xx
