Hi everyone,
I had my HSG last week (been ttc for nearly 2 years) I was so scared and saw so many horror stories online I thought it might be nice to share my positive experience.
I am a wimp, tend to faint when in pain and suffer from anxiety so you can imagine how I felt before the test!
I was asked to change into a hospital gown and provide a urine sample by a very friendly nurse. Then the doctor performing the test came to talk me through it, she was lovely and listened to my concerns and said she would take it all nice and slow.
I was taken into the room and asked to lie down, the doctor and a nurse were there and both chatted to me. The first part is just like a smear test, a bit uncomfortable but not awful. I didn't feel the catheter at all and just felt a pinch with the balloon. When she put the dye in I expected to feel pain but I felt nothing at all. I had taken 2 nurofen a couple of hours before so maybe that helped but I was so surprised!
For the next 24 hours or so I had a few little cramps but nothing as bad as period pains, almost felt more like sore muscle pains. Also had a tiny amount of spotting for a day or two.
I know everyones experiences are different but I could find more negative than positive online so I thought I would share mine!!! x
