Possible allergy?

Hi ladies, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with milk allergy/intolerance. How you went about getting it diagnosed and what the symptoms were.

My best friends little girl (12 weeks old and formula fed since birth) has periods of what I would call extreme crying and often pulls her legs up like her tummy hurts. She also has a lot of runny, smelly poos not the usual formula poos.

Any experience would be great!

My DD is lactose intolerant. As your friends baby she struggled terribly with wind and pulled her legs up a lot. We used colief drops in her formula And Dr browns bottles helped too as she also struggled with trapped wind. She also had reflux so a combo of colief, Dr browns bottles and being held upright gave her relief.

I think Australia is the same as here in NZ.

I was almost in tears in the formula aisle trying to find a formula LO would take and telling my mum how angry I was that there was no-one to talk to about my son's symptoms when a lovely lady gave me the name of her paed she used at the Children's specialist centre. I left the supermarket and immediately made an appt. Here the Paed's are the only one that can provide scripts for the right formulas. So we got an evaluation (no tests as he was too young) just done on reported symptoms and got a script for Aptamil Pepti Junior Gold. Worked well almost immediately!!

In NZ we can purchase the Pepti Junior and Allerpro ranges online so if she wants to just give it a go and see if there is an improvement before forking out to see a paed I am sure you can buy it online in Oz too. The Allerpro range is available at the chemists over there I believe.

DS's symptoms:

Hives on face after feeds
Pulling legs up and colic at night
Reflux
Night terrors
Red ring around anus
Terrible nappy rash that came and went - looked like burns
congested nose and chest
Runny poop
Wanted frequent feeding (to mitigate reflux)
Difficulty sleeping
