I have my date now and a pre-op appointment too.

Does anyone know what they do at the pre-op?

Thanks :)

I have my pre-op appt next week thurs. It is pretty much mostly your normal appt, checking your cervix, seeing if your dialated, height, weight, bp, urine test, and bump measurement.

They will also discuss the csect surgery with you too. What to espect, and what questions they can answer if you have any.

I already had a prev C, so already know what to expect, my only q will be if they will use the same insision, or another one.Every dc and hospital is different.

After I have the pre-op appt with my dc, I will be given a paper to take to the hospital to have bloodwork done. I'll find out how many tubes of blood have to be drawn :/

I'm in US, pre-ops might vary based on where you live.

Thanks.
My pre-op is at the hospital so not my usual appt. x

I had my section 7 weeks ago, they go through it all with you, do urine, bp, blood tests, get your tablets you have to take beforehand, speak to anesthnatist , get your support socks etc, its fine :)

Thank you :)
I have my tablets already  I got them a couple of weeks ago when we booked my date.
Fab, I'll be able to go with my list of questions then x

For me then done another scan (ds was breech)
bloods, gave me tabs, talked me through what would happen and sign consent forms.

What are tabs for? Pain meds? Antibiotics? Anxiety?

I've just had my c section on Mon. The tabs I was given at the pre op were ranitidine (antacid) to take at 10pm the night before and one at 6am on the day of the surgery.
They also issued an antibacterial wash (stellisept) that I had to wash in on the morning (before getting to hospital) including your hair.
Other than that, they just took my bloods. Didn't even check urine as midwife had done that in the same week.
You'll be fine xxx

The tablets I've got are also ranitidine (antacid) :) and I've already signed my consent form.

Thanks ladies :) I'm guessing its nothing to worry about but just wondered as a lot of what I thought would be pre-op has already been done. xx

For me it was just for the dr to talk me through what would happen during the operation and to sign to consent forms. They also took blood to check iron levels etc.
